  1. 31. Opportunistic viral infection after paediatric transplantation

    Författare :Carola Kullberg-Lindh; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Paediatric liver transplantation; paediatric stem cell transplantation; immunosuppression; opportunistic; CMV; EBV; AdV; HHV-6; real-time PCR; monitoring; specimen; post transplant lymphoproliferative disease;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Opportunistic viral infections can cause considerable morbidity and mortality in organ and stem cell transplanted (SCT) patients, mainly due to iatrogenic T cell dysfunction. Whereas in SCT patients, in general the immunosuppressive treatment can be discontinued after 6-12 months, for the majority of organ transplanted patients, the need for treatment is life-long. 2. 32. Angiogenesis in human renal cell carcinoma : hypoxia, vascularity and prognosis

    Författare :Johanna Sandlund; Torgny Rasmuson; Börje Ljungberg; Kjell Grankvist; Anders Bergh; Elisabeth Kjellén; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Endoglin CD105; CD31; prognosis; CA IX; HIF-2α; renal cell carcinoma; tissue microarray; immunohistochemistry; real-time PCR; stage; grade; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Angiogenesis is recognised as a critical step in tumour progression. The angiogenic switch is activated by various trigger signals, such as hypoxia, low pH, and genetic mutations. Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is often an aggressive tumour, and advanced disease has limited treatment options and bad prognosis. LÄS MER

  3. 33. Developmental Aspects of Drug Transport Across the Blood-Brain Barrier

    Författare :Jörgen Bengtsson; Margareta Hammarlund-Udenaes; Ann-Cathrin Engwall; Sven Björkman; Elizabeth C.M. de Lange; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Blood-brain barrier; development; active transport; tight junction proteins; microdialysis; recovery; morphine; nitrofurantoin; Bcrp; microarray; real-time PCR; in vitro; in vivo; LC-MS MS; Biopharmacy; Biofarmaci; Pharmacokinetics and Drug Therapy; Farmakokinetik och läkemedelsterapi;

    Sammanfattning : The developmental aspect of drug transport across the blood-brain barrier (BBB) was investigated. Microdialysis was used to study unbound morphine BBB transport at different ages in sheep. An in vitro study was performed to find differentially expressed genes in brain capillary-rich fractions of the brain in rats of different ages. LÄS MER

  4. 34. Regulation of vascular function by fluid mechanical forces. Development of a new vascular experimental platform for integrative physiological and molecular biological studies of living conduit vessels

    Författare :Li-Ming Gan; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; perfusion model; endothelium; smooth muscle cells; shear stress; pressure; nitric oxide; endothelin-1; vascular endothelial growth factor; c-jun; c-fos; real-time PCR; NO probe.;

    Sammanfattning : The vascular endothelium is a multifunctional interface between blood flow and target organs and is continuously exposed to fluid mechanical forces such as shear stress, compressive, and tensile forces. Both in vivo and in vitro data indicate that biomechanical forces exert important modulating effects on key vascular functions. LÄS MER

  5. 35. Polyomavirus infections in humans

    Författare :Annika Lundstig; Malmö Klinisk mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Polyomaviruses; tumour virology; BK virus; neuroblastoma; maternal infection; Real Time PCR; enzyme immunoassay; seroprevalence; JC virus; SV40; virus like particles VLPs ; seroepidemiology; biobank; mesothelioma tissues; Microbiology; bacteriology; virology; mycology; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi;

    Sammanfattning : The human polyomaviruses BKV and JCV are endemic and infect > 70% of population worldwide. Primary infections occur during childhood and are largely subclinical. Following primary infection, both viruses persist as latent infections in the kidneys and B lymphocytes. LÄS MER
