  1. 1. Vascular endothelial growth factor receptors in angiogenesis

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Kui Huang; Uppsala universitet.; [2001]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; endothelial cells; VEGF receptor; signal transduction; pertide; angiogenesis; Genetik; MEDICINE Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine Clinical genetics; MEDICIN Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin Klinisk genetik; Medical Biochemistry; medicinsk biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Angiogenesis is a process in which new capillaries sprout from preexisting blood vessels. Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) promotes endothelial cell proliferation and migration and thereby stimulates angiogenesis. VEGF receptors (VEGFRs) have been implicated as key regulatory components in endothelial cells. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) and Peripheral Nerve Regeneration

    Detta är en avhandling från Department of Animal Physiology, Lund University

    Författare :Mariann Sondell; [2000]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Schwann cell; SCG; rat; peripheral nerve regeneration; neuropilin-1; nerve repair; mouse; growth factor; flk-1; axonal outgrowth; DRG; VEGF; Animal physiology; Djurfysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and its possible role as a neurotrophic factor. I have investigated the effect of VEGF on neurons in culture but also in vivo, following a crush lesion of the sciatic nerve, and following nerve repair. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Androgen controlled regulatory systems in prostate cancer potential new therapeutic targets and prognostic markers

    Detta är en avhandling från Umeå : Medicinsk biovetenskap

    Författare :Peter Hammarsten; Umeå universitet.; [2008]
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; prostate cancer; angiogenesis; human biopsy; androgen ablation; castration; prognostic marker; prognostic factor; growth control; VEGF; vascular endothelial growth factor; EGFR; epidermal growth factor receptor; pEGFR; phosphorylated EGFR; phosphorylated epidermal growth factor receptor; VETERINARY MEDICINE Pathology; VETERINÄRMEDICIN Patologi;

    Sammanfattning : BACKGROUND: Prostate cancer is by far the most common cancer among Swedish men. Some patients have an aggressive lethal disease, but the majority of affected men have long expected survival. Unfortunately, the diagnostic tools available are insufficient in predicting disease aggressiveness. Novel prognostic markers are therefore urgently needed. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Endothelial-leukocyte interactions

    Detta är en avhandling från Maria Olofsson, Department of Cell and Molecular Biology, Box 94, S-221 00 Lund, Sweden

    Författare :Maria Olofsson; [2000]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Histology; endothelial cell; leukocyte; apoptosis; mitochondria; heparin binding protein; vascular permeability; E-selectin; migration; rolling; cytochemistry; histochemistry; tissue culture; Histologi; cytokemi; histokemi; vävnadskultur;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes early inflammatory responses involving interactions between leukocytes and the endothelial lining of the blood vessel wall. An adhesion molecule, E-selectin, which is upregulated on interleukin-1 activated endothelium, was found to mediate rolling between leukocytes and endothelial cells in vivo. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Vascular endothelial growth factor in renal cell carcinoma

    Detta är en avhandling från Umeå : Kirurgisk och perioperativ vetenskap

    Författare :Jan Jacobsen; Umeå universitet.; [2006]

    Sammanfattning : Background. Angiogenesis is essential for tumour growth. Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and its isoforms were investigated in relation to the clinical course in a large number of patients with renal cell carcinoma (RCC).Methods. LÄS MER
