6. SAR Studies of Capsazepinod Bronchodilators. The A-ring and the Coupling region
Sammanfattning : Bronchoconstriction is a hallmark in respiratory diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Current therapies use bronchodilating agents in order to control the exacerbations produced by limited airflow and improve the quality of life of patients suffering from these diseases. LÄS MER
7. The contribution of eosinophils and mediators in allergic inflammation
Sammanfattning : The aim of the present work was to investigate the development of allergic inflammation. For this purpose human experimental challenge models in skin, nose and bronchi were used as well as pharmacological interventions. A variety of inflammatory cells and mediators have been suggested as important in the pathogenesis of allergic inflammation. LÄS MER
8. Endothelin receptor changes during inflammation in the lung
Sammanfattning : Endothelin-1 (ET-1) is an extremely potent smooth muscle spasmogen well known from the vascular system but also active within the airways. The importance of its proinflammatory and co-mitogenic properties has become increasingly evident, the endothelin system also having been shown to mimic the signal features of asthma, COPD and other pulmonary diseases. 9. PACAP and airway regulation with special reference to smooth muscle and neutrophils
Sammanfattning : The investigations focus on the neuropeptidepituitary adenylate cyclase-activating peptide and its effects on airway regulation, with emphasis on smooth muscle relaxation and neutrophil activation and migration. In the nasal mucosa, PACAP-containing nerve fibers were localized invascular smooth muscle and close to seromucous glands. LÄS MER
10. Nasal and bronchial airway reactivity in allergic and non allergic airway inflammation
Sammanfattning : In allergic or asthmatic airways disease, upper and lower airways show a uniform eosinophilic inflammation of the mucosa, and bronchial hyperreactivity is a common finding. To study the co- variation of mucosal reactivity in upper and lower airways, histamine challenges of both sites were performed in a group of patients with allergic rhinitis during non-season. LÄS MER
