  1. 1. Characterization of RNA exosome in Insect Cells Role in mRNA Surveillance

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : Department of Molecular Biology and Functional Genomics, Stockholm University

    Författare :Viktoria Hessle; Neus Visa; Maria Carmo-Fonseca; [2011]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cell nucleus; nuclear bodies; mRNA surveillance; cotranscriptional assembly; Rrp6; Rrp4; mRNP; NATURAL SCIENCES Biology Cell and molecular biology Molecular biology; NATURVETENSKAP Biologi Cell- och molekylärbiologi Molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology; molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The exosome, an evolutionarily conserved protein complex with exoribonucleolytic activity, is one of the key players in mRNA quality control. Little is known about the functions of the exosome in metazoans. We have studied the role of the exosome in nuclear mRNA surveillance using Chironomus tentans and Drosophila melanogaster as model systems. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Studies on mRNA turnover in bacteria

    Detta är en avhandling från Biology building

    Författare :Martin Persson; [2000]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Microbiology; aprE; GlpP; glpD; mRNA secondary structure; Bacillus subtilis; mRNA stability; bacteriology; virology; mycology; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Genetic information, which is stored in DNA, is transferred to messenger RNA (mRNA) in a process called transcription. mRNAs are then translated by ribosomes into proteins which, with some important exceptions, catalyze chemical reactions in cells. Since cells must be able to adapt to changes in the environment, mRNAs must be unstable. LÄS MER

  3. 3. High-resolution Studies of mRNA Expression in Brain A Search for Genes Differently Expressed in Schizophrenia

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Anja Castensson; Elena Jazin; Terence Speed; [2003]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; mRNA; gene expression; real-time RT-PCR; schizophrenia; 5-HT serotonin receptor 2C; brain; psychiatric genetics; Genetik; MEDICINE Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine Clinical genetics; MEDICIN Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin Klinisk genetik;

    Sammanfattning : Gene expression differences between patients and controls can be used to find susceptibility genes and drug targets for a disease. High-resolution strategies are required because the differences between the investigated groups may be small and numerous factors may affect the mRNA quantity. LÄS MER

  4. 4. mRNA degradation factors as regulators of the gene expression in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Mridula Muppavarapu; Tracy Nissan; Per Sunnerhagen; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; mRNA decapping; mRNA degradation; Pat1; Edc3; Lsm4; Lsm1-7; P bodies; Dcp2; Transcription; Ribosome biogenesis; Exosome.; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Messenger RNA degradation is crucial for the regulation of eukaryotic gene expression. It not only modulates the basal mRNA levels but also functions as a quality control system, thereby controlling the availability of mRNA for protein synthesis. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Xenograft Rejection : A Study of Cytokine mRNA Expression in Experimental Models

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Henrik Krook; Anthony Dorling; [2002]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; Type 1 diabetes; Parkinson’s disease; xenotransplantation; islets; neural tissue; heart; mRNA; cytokines; rejection.; Onkologi; MEDICINE Surgery Oncology; MEDICIN Kirurgi Onkologi; Clinical Immunology; klinisk immunologi;

    Sammanfattning : Acute cellular xenograft rejection of ICCs triggered mRNA expression of proinflammatory cytokines (IL-1b and TNF-a), Th1 associated cytokines (IL-12p40, IL-2 and IFN-g) and Th2 associated cytokines (IL-4 and IL-10). The peak values and the kinetics of the mRNA expression indicated that acute cellular xenograft rejection is enhanced by the proinflammatory response and mediated by the Th1 associated response, whereas the function of the Th2 associated response most likely is to counteract the Th1 associated cytokines and thereby inhibit bystander damage by the delayed type hypersensitivity like rejection process.
