1. Molecular regulation of rat histidine decarboxylase
Sammanfattning : Histamine is involved in a variety of physiological processes like gastric acid secretion, inflammation and neurotransmission. The production of histamine is catalysed by the enzyme histidine decarboxylase (HDC), which is a strongly regulated enzyme. LÄS MER
2. Interaction between pancreatic cancer and beta cells : intraislet significance of islet amyloid polypeptide
Sammanfattning : Introduction: Mutual influences have been found between exocrine pancreatic cancer and the endocrine pancreatic islets. In laboratory animals, induction and growth of pancreatic cancer are affected by the endocrine pancreas. Conversely, abnormalities of the endocrine pancreas are frequently seen in mammals with pancreatic cancer. LÄS MER
3. Cartilage destruction - Release of type IX collagen in joint disease
Sammanfattning : Cartilage is of vital importance for the function of joints. It is characterized by a prominent extracellular matrix (ECM) that is produced and maintained by relatively few cells of one type, the chondrocyte. LÄS MER
4. Interaction of Triglyceride-rich Lipoproteins with Platelets and Vitamin K-dependent Coagulation Factors
Sammanfattning : 1. During incubation of platelets with 3H-arachidonic acid (20:4, n-6) and 14C-cholesterol doubly labelled and colloidal gold labelled chylomicrons (CMs) and chylomicron remnants (CMRs) CMs were taken up more efficiently than CMRs. Addition of unlabelled CMs, VLDLs, LDLs and HDLs decreased the uptake of labelled CMs. LÄS MER
5. Expression, regulation and functional aspects of the NPY Y1 receptors in rat
Sammanfattning : The distribution of the NPY receptor subtypes, mainly of Y1 and Y2 receptors, has been studied extensively by others employing pharmacological ligand binding techniques. The major aim of this thesis was to study in detail the distribution of Y1-receptors (Y1Rs) in rat and mouse with antisera against the C-terminus (CT) of the rat Y1R using an immunohistochemical technique with enhanced sensitivity (tyramide signal amplification = TSA).
