1. Tactile Sensory Control of Dexterous Manipulation in Humans
Sammanfattning : During dexterous manipulation with the fingertips, forces are applied to objects' surfaces. To achieve grasp stability, these forces must be appropriate given the properties of the objects and the skin of the fingertips, and the nature of the task. LÄS MER
2. Neurotransmission and functional synaptic plasticity in the rat medial preoptic nucleus
Sammanfattning : Brain function implies complex information processing in neuronal circuits, critically dependent on the molecular machinery that enables signal transmission across synaptic contacts between neurons. The types of ion channels and receptors in the neuronal membranes vary with neuron types and brain regions and determine whether neuronal responses will be excitatory or inhibitory and often allow for functional synaptic plasticity which is thought to be the basis for much of the adaptability of the nervous system and for our ability to learn and store memories. 3. To select one hand while using both : neural mechanisms supporting flexible hand dominance in bimanual object manipulation
Sammanfattning : In daily activities, the brain regularly assigns different roles to the hands dependingon task and context. Yet, little is known about the underlying neural processes. Thiscertainly applies to how the brain, where each hemisphere primarily controls onehand, manages the between-hand coordination required in bimanual objectmanipulation. LÄS MER
4. Optimizing and evaluation of a methacholine provocation test : with application in occupational research
Sammanfattning : We have developed a methacholine provocation method, which detects bronchial responsiveness in more than 80% of healthy subjects. The method enables us to detect differences in bronchial responsiveness within the normal range. With this method FEV1 and Gaw had similar sensitivity in detecting small differences in bronchial responsiveness. LÄS MER
5. Gastrointestinal mucosal protective mechanisms : Mudolatory effects of Heliobacter pyroli on the gastric mucus gel barrier and mucosal blood flow in vivo
Sammanfattning : The gastrointestinal mucus gel layer and blood flow are two important mechanisms for protection at the pre-epithelial and sub-epithelial levels, respectively. Helicobacter pylori might circumvent these mechanisms and elicit a chronic inflammatory response with consequent ulcers in the stomach and duodenum. LÄS MER
