  1. 1. On electroconvulsive therapy in depression : Clinical, cognitive and neurobiological aspects

    Författare :Pia Nordanskog; Maria Engström; Aki Johanson; Elna-Marie Larsson; Örjan Smedby; Tom Bolwig; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ECT; electroconvulsive therapy; depression; MRI; cognitive; hippocampus;

    Sammanfattning : Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is used worldwide to treat severe mental disorders. The most common mental disorder, and the third leading cause of disease burden in the world is depression. The clinical efficacy of ECT for severe depression is well-established. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Expression, regulation and functional aspects of the NPY Y1 receptors in rat

    Författare :Jutta Maria Kopp; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :G-protein coupled receptor; mapping; in situ hybridization; immunohistochernistry; pre- synaptic receptor; nerve injury; tracing; epilepsy; neuroprotective effect; electroconvulsive stimulation; ovary; fertility; pituitary gland.;

    Sammanfattning : The distribution of the NPY receptor subtypes, mainly of Y1 and Y2 receptors, has been studied extensively by others employing pharmacological ligand binding techniques. The major aim of this thesis was to study in detail the distribution of Y1-receptors (Y1Rs) in rat and mouse with antisera against the C-terminus (CT) of the rat Y1R using an immunohistochemical technique with enhanced sensitivity (tyramide signal amplification = TSA). 3. 3. Cyclic guanosine 3', 5'-monophosphate : studies on synthesis and efflux from hepatocytes, liver slices and cerebellar slices and on serotonin-mediated cGMP synthesis in human platelets

    Författare :Marie-Louise Tjörnhammar; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The present study established the existence of a carrier mediated transport of 3'5' cGMP from rat liver slices, hepatocytes and cerebellar slices in which the cellular levels of 3'5' cGMP were elevated by application of appropriate stimuli and inhibitors of the 3'5' cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase. The carrier is specific for 3'5' cGMP as opposed to 3'5' cAMP. LÄS MER
