31. Traumatic episodes related to the genocide period, mental health effects and perceived barriers to care facing young adults in Rwanda
Sammanfattning : Aims: To investigate mental health status in a Rwandan population aged 20-35 years, their associations with traumatic episodes experienced during the 1994 genocide and life time, and barriers to care as perceived by health professionals. Methods: The cross-sectional population-based study was conducted using the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview tool to investigate prevalence of mental disorders and items from the Harvard Trauma questionnaire for traumatic episodes. 32. Rethinking Sound : Computer-assisted reading intervention with a phonics approach for deaf and hard of hearing children using cochlear implants or hearing aids
Sammanfattning : In the present thesis, computer-assisted reading intervention with a phonics approach was examined in deaf and hard of hearing children (DHH) aged 5, 6 or 7 years old using cochlear implants, hearing aids or a combination of both. Children with normal hearing (NH), matched for non-verbal intelligence and age, served as a reference group. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : The aim of this dissertation is to describe and critically discuss the literacies apprentice-students in the Health and Social Care Programme in the upper secondary school in Sweden are given access to during the workplace-based learning part of the education. The study draws on sociocultural understandings of learning and knowing, and on perspectives developed in the field of new literacy studies of literacies as situated social practices. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to contribute to the development of empirical and theoretical knowledge about the legitimacy and comprehensibility of assessment- and decision-making processes within the sickness insurance system from a client perspective. The focus has been on interactions between clients and other stakeholders within the system, and the extent to which the clients understood and accepted the procedures. LÄS MER
