6. Biomaterials for Promoting Self-Healing of Bone Tissue
Sammanfattning : The present work addresses poor bone/implant integration and severe bone defects. In both conditions external stimuli is required for new bone to form. LÄS MER
7. Solubility and Surface Complexation Studies of Apatites
Sammanfattning : Apatites are a diverse class of phosphate minerals that are important in a great variety of natural and industrial processes. They are, for example, used as raw material in fertiliser production and in the remediation of metal-contaminated soils. LÄS MER
8. Old people with femoral neck fracture : delirium, malnutrition and surgical methods - an intervention program
Sammanfattning : Hip fracture is a global and a growing public health problem. More women than men sustain hip fractures, the incidence increases exponentially with age and mean age is above 80. About one third of hip-fracture patients suffer from dementia and are prone to develop acute confusional state (delirium). LÄS MER
9. Coexistence, Deployment and Business Models of Heterogeneous Wireless Systems Incorporating High Altitude Platforms
Sammanfattning : The increased demand for broadband communications has led to the rapid development of the conventional terrestrial and satellite wireless communications systems. One of the main challenges to next generation wireless systems is to deliver high-capacity and cost-efficient solutions to cope with an increasing usage of broadband services and applications. 10. Novel non-collagenous modulators of biomineralization in bone and dentin
Sammanfattning : The formation of mineralized tissues such as bones and teeth is governed on many levels by molecular, genetic, and cellular events to culminate in terminally differentiated cells that secrete a specialized organic matrix, which is later mineralized through the coordinated deposition of calcium phosphate crystals. The formation of this hard tissue phase is tightly regulated by components of the extracellular matrix (ECM), since deviations from this equilibrium result in prevalent, debilitating health problems such as arthritis, vascular calcification, periodontal disease and osteoporosis.
