11. Nanocellulose based 3D printed hydrogel scaffolds for cartilage and bone regeneration : Tuning of composition, pore structure and functions
Sammanfattning : Biobased-materials with customized scaffolds have played a prominent role in the success of tissue engineering (TE). Cellulose nanomaterials (CNM) isolated from the abundant biopolymer, cellulose, is explored in this thesis for TE engineering due to its versatile properties such as biocompatibility, high specific strength, surface functionality and water retention capacity. 12. Ceramic Materials as Drug Delivery Systems
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to evaluate ceramic materials for drug delivery drugs applications. Three delivery routes were investigated; abuse-deterrent oral formulation, inhalation, and novel ceramic crystals with drug entrapped. A geopolymer matrix was developed in order to withstand non-medical abuse such as crushing, snorting, extraction etc. LÄS MER
13. Influence of Admixtures on Crystal Nucleation of Vanillin
Sammanfattning : Admixtures like reactants and byproducts are solublenon-crystallizing compounds that can be present in industrialsolutions and affect crystallization of the main substance. This thesis provides experimental and molecular modellingresults on the influence of admixtures on crystal nucleation ofvanillin (VAN). 14. Living Shi'ism : Instances of Ritualisation among Islamist Men in Contemporary Iran
Sammanfattning : Iranian Shi‘ism is, among other things, known for its rituals of sorrow. In the contemporary Iranian context, active participation in these rituals has become a sign of support for the Islamist regime. The aim of this study is to discuss the ritual activities in the lives of a group of supporters of the regime. LÄS MER
15. Bone structure characterisation using neutron scattering techniques
Sammanfattning : Bones have unique mechanical properties that originate from their main constituents: mineral, in the form of hydroxyapatite (HAp) crystals, and collagen type-I. The stiffness of the HAp mineral combined with the flexibility of collagen, and their intricate hierarchical arrangement from the smallest individual building blocks to the organ level, result in a composite tissue with a remarkable ability to withstand complex loading scenarios.
