  1. 11. Visual attention during decision-making in natural environments

    Författare :Kerstin Gidlöf; Kognitionsvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; decision-making; visual attention; process tracing; consumer behaviour;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates visual attention during decision-making in natural environments in four different studies. The first study demonstrated that decisions in the supermarket were suboptimal and this did not seem to relate to the amount of products attended to or the amount of time spent on each product. 2. 12. Feature-Based Image Processing for Rendering, Compression, and Visual Search

    Författare :Haopeng Li; Markus Flierl; Peter Eisert; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Visual communication, vivid, meaningful, and creative, permits a way to express information visually. The communication media, by images, graphs and videos, passes informative color and shape to human perception sensors. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Reality isn’t what it appears to be. Contexts are not always clear and visible. People don’t always say what they really mean. And they don’t always mean what they say. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Defence on Demand : A physiological perspective on phenotypic plasticity in anti-predator traits

    Författare :Jerker Vinterstare; Enhet akvatisk ekologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Phenotypic plasticity; inducible defences; stress physiology; cortisol; immune function; trade-offs; sexual dimorphism; crucian carp; visual ecology; predator-prey interactions; POMC pro-opiomelanocortin ; colour change; eco-immunology; Anti-predator defences; Inducible morphological defence; Phenotypic plasticity; Stress physiology; Cortisol; Immune function; Crucian carp; Predator-prey interactions; Trade-offs; Sexual dimorphism; POMC; Pro-opiomelanocortin; Visual ecology; Eye evolution; Melanin; Eco-immunology; Pace-of-life; Behavioural plasticity;

    Sammanfattning : Almost all species face some degree of predation risk, and, hence, evolution has produced a plethora of anti-predator defences. However, anti-predator strategies require resources, and the prevailing risk of becoming prey is influenced by many factors and rarely constant across time and space. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Biologically-Based Interactive Neural Network Models for Visual Attention and Object Recognition

    Författare :Mohammad Saifullah; Arne Jönsson; Christian Balkenius; Anders Lansner; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Biologically-Based Models; Object Recognition; Visual Attention; Interactive Neural Network; Occlusion; Overlapping;

    Sammanfattning : The main focus of this thesis is to develop biologically-based computational models for object recognition. A series of models for attention and object recognition were developed in the order of increasing functionality and complexity. LÄS MER
