Sammanfattning : In the period 1999-2007, more than half a million Burkinabe returned to Burkina Faso due to the persecution of immigrant labourers in neighbouring Côte d’Ivoire. Ultranationalist debates about the criteria for Ivorian citizenship had intensified during the 1990s and led to the scapegoating of immigrants in a political rhetoric centred on notions of autochthony and xenophobia. Sammanfattning : This anthropological study addresses issues of subjectivity and agency within the context of pious, Muslim, Malay women's religious practice in urban Malaysia. It investigaes how Malay women come to understand themselves as gendered, religious subjects and, thereby, explores the motivations and meanings that women ascribe to their emergent roles in the religious sphere and within the Islamization process. 10. Lost in Transformation : A critical study of two South African museums
Sammanfattning : In this dissertation Transformation, as understood in South Africa, is investigated in the ‘Natal Museum’ and the ‘Msunduzi Museum Incorporating the Voortrekker Complex’ in terms of socio-political structures, the museum as a place, its collections and displays. I have emphasised the ethnographical perspective and analysed it by using key concepts such as new museology, time, space and place. LÄS MER
