  1. 1. Standardization of Islet Isolation and Transplantation Variables

    Författare :Andrew S Friberg; Olle Korsgren; Daniel Brandhorst; Paul R. V. Johnson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Islet isolation; standardization; enzyme; gradient separation; digital imaging analysis; DIA; transplantation outcome; islet transplantation; prediction; Medical technology; Medicinsk teknik; Medical Cell Biology; Medicinsk cellbiologi; Computerized Image Processing; Datoriserad bildbehandling;

    Sammanfattning : Currently, the transplantation of islets of Langerhans is a viable means to maintain control of blood sugar levels and reduce the risk of hypoglycemia in defined populations with brittle type I diabetes mellitus or those requiring pancreatectomy. However, the process of islet isolation is highly variable and not all isolations result in islet numbers or quality suitable for transplantation. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Supply Chain Risk Management : Identification, Evaluation and Mitigation Techniques

    Författare :S.Nurmaya Musa; Ou Tang; Jan Olhager; David Zhang; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Supply chain risk management; risk analysis; risk control; co-citation; system dynamics; modelling;

    Sammanfattning : Supply chains have expanded rapidly over the decades, with the aim to increase productivity, lower costs and fulfil demands in emerging markets. The increasing complexity in a supply chain hinders visibility and consequently reduces one’s control over the process. LÄS MER

  3. 3. In situ remediation of contaminated sediments using thin-layer capping : efficiency in contaminant retention and ecological implications

    Författare :Göran S. Samuelsson; Jonas S. Gunnarsson; Bart Koelmans; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Contaminated Sediment Remediation; Activated Carbon; Benthic Community; Ecological Effects; Stress; Resilience; Contaminant Sequestration; Capping Efficiency; Bioavailability; Bioaccumulation; Sediment-to-water fluxes; marin ekotoxikologi; Marine Ecotoxicology;

    Sammanfattning : Hydrophobic organic contaminants (HOCs) often reside in sediments sorbed to particles, most tightly to particles with high content of organic carbon. If persistent, such pollutants can accumulate in the sediment for many years and constitute a contamination risk for sediment-living organisms and organisms at higher trophic levels, including humans. 4. 4. Risk and prognostic factors for malignant glioma

    Författare :Sara Sjöström; Beatrice S Melin; Ulrika Andersson; Monika Hegi; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Glioma; Glioblastoma; Risk; Outcome; EGR; EGFR; VEGF; VEGFR; DNA repair; virus; Oncology; Onkologi; onkologi; Oncology;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Glioblastoma is the most common and aggressive type of glioma and associated with poor prognosis. Apart from ionizing radiation and some rare genetic disorders, few aetiological factors have been identified for primary brain tumours. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Risk and survival for colorectal cancer in northern Sweden : sociodemographic factors and surveillance programs

    Författare :Olle Sjöström; Beatrice S. Melin; Lars H Lindholm; Richard Palmqvist; Johannes Blom; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Colorectal cancer; Risk factors; Cancer epidemiology; Endoscopy general; Health economy; Cancer prevention; Hereditary colorectal; Surveillance colonoscopy; Cancer Epidemiology; cancerepidemiologi; Genetics; genetik; Surgery; kirurgi; Oncology; onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : BackgroundColorectal cancer (CRC) – i.e., cancer in the colon or rectum – is one of the most common cancers both globally and in Sweden. The risk for CRC is mainly related to age, heredity, and life-style risk factors. LÄS MER
