    Sammanfattning : Background Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the second most common malignancy in developed countries. The mortality is high, with nearly half of patients dying from the disease. The primary treatment of CRC is surgery, and decisions about additional treatment with chemotherapy are based mainly on tumor stage. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Molecular and Biological Characteristics of Stroma and Tumor Cells in Colorectal Cancer

    Detta är en avhandling från Linköping University Electronic Press

    Författare :Jingfang Gao; Xiao-Feng Sun; Richard Palmqvist; [2008]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Carcinogenesis; genetic alterations; colorectal cancer CRC ; cysteine-histidine rich protein PINCH ; Inflammatory infiltration; Angiogenesis; lymphangiogenesis; MEDICINE Surgery Oncology; MEDICIN Kirurgi Onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : Carcinogenesis is a progressive process involving multiple genetic alterations in tumor cells and complex interactions in the tumor-host microenvironment. To better understand the contribution of molecular alterations in tumor cells and stromal variables to the development of colorectal cancer (CRC) and identify prognostic factors, in this study we examined the clinicopathological and biological significance of stromal variables, including particularly interesting new cysteine-histidine rich protein (PINCH), inflammatory infiltration, angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis, as well as hRAD50/hMRE11/hNBS1 proteins and hRAD50 mutation in tumor cell in CRC. 4. 4. Biomarkers of one-carbon metabolism in colorectal cancer risk

    Detta är en avhandling från Umeå : Umeå University

    Författare :Björn Gylling; Richard Palmqvist; Katarina Bälter; [2017]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Colorectal cancer; one-carbon metabolism; biomarkers; folate; epidemiology; Cancer Epidemiology; cancerepidemiologi;

    Sammanfattning : One-carbon metabolism, a network of enzymatic reactions involving the transfer of methyl groups, depends on B-vitamins as cofactors, folate as a methyl group carrier, and amino acids, betaine, and choline as methyl group donors. One-carbon metabolism influences many processes in cancer initiation and development such as DNA synthesis, genome stability, and histone and epigenetic methylation. LÄS MER
