16. Aspects of Regulation of GFR and Tubular Function in the Diabetic Kidney : Roles of Adenosine, Nitric Oxide and Oxidative Stress
Sammanfattning : Diabetic nephropathy is the main cause for initiation of renal replacement therapy and early symptoms in patients include increased glomerular filtration rate (GFR), decreased oxygen tension and albuminuria, followed by a progressive decline in GFR and loss of kidney function. Experimental models of diabetes display increased GFR, decreased tissue oxygenation and nitric oxide bioavailability. LÄS MER
17. Renal disease in primary Sjögren's syndrome
Sammanfattning : Primary Sjögren's syndrome (SS) is characterised by inflammation in the lacrimal and salivary glands. The kidneys may be involved, e.g. tubulointerstitial nephritis (TIN) and distal renal tubular acidosis (dRTA). LÄS MER
18. Notch Signaling in Neuroblastoma and Renal Cell Carcinoma
Sammanfattning : The Notch signaling pathway governs cell functions essential for normal development and organogenesis. Aberrant Notch signaling has been implicated in tumorigenesis by perturbing control of proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, migration and angiogenesis. LÄS MER
19. Regulation of Renal Hyaluronan in Water Handling : Studies in vivo and in vitro
Sammanfattning : Hyaluronan (HA) is a negatively charged extracellular matrix (ECM) component with water-attracting properties. It is the dominating ECM component in the renal medullary interstitium, where the amount changes in relation to hydration status: it increases during hydration and decreases during dehydration. 20. Experimental acute ischemic renal failure and anticoagulation
Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on experimental studies on acute renal failure (ARF) in rats. The model employed is that of renal artery clamping, which causes a standardized, ischemic trauma to the kidney. LÄS MER
