  1. 1. Aspects of renal blood flow and oxygenation in acute kidney injury during severe infections

    Författare :Tomas Luther; Robert Frithiof; Michael Hultström; Per Liss; Rafael Kawati; Anders Åneman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Acute kidney injury; renal blood flow; renal oxygenation; COVID-19; fluids; mitochondria; sepsis; acute respiratory distress syndrome; magnetic resonance imaging; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care;

    Sammanfattning : Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common complication in patients treated in the intensive care unit (ICU). Severe infections/sepsis is the most common aetiology, and about half of patients treated in the ICU due to sepsis are affected. Although AKI often resolves over time, the development of AKI decreases the chances of surviving. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Renal hemodynamics in renal artery stenosis and angiotensin II-dependent hypertension. Pathophysiological and diagnostic aspects

    Författare :Aso Saeed; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :angiotensin II; autoregulation of renal blood flow; color duplex sonography; endothelin-1; oxidative stress; renal artery stenosis; renal hemodynamics; renovascular hypertension;

    Sammanfattning : Patients with renovascular hypertension have a poor renal and cardiovascular prognosis. To improve the care of these patients, we need to increase knowledge about the pathophysiological mechanisms involved. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Assessment of Renal Physiology Using Functional MRI

    Författare :Per Eckerbom; Per Liss; Fredrik Palm; Peter Hansell; Jarl Jakobsen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Kidney; Renal; MRI; Phase contrast; ASL; BOLD; DWI; T1; COVID-19; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Kidney injury is a major cause of morbidity and mortality throughout the world, leading to substantial individual suffering and to a heavy financial burden for the society. A large number of common conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, autoimmune diseases and infections are highly associated with kidney injury. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Hemodilution with dextran: Effects on blood flow and thrombus formation. An experimental study in the rabbit

    Författare :Lieselotte Frost-Arner; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []

    Sammanfattning : Microvascular surgery enables free tissue flaps to cover tissue defects, e.g. after trauma and malignancies. Although major improvements in techniques have been made, problems with poor tissue circulation and thrombus formation still exist. LÄS MER

  5. 5. On Renal Artery Stenosis

    Författare :Hampus Eklöf; Rickard Nyman; David Bergqvist; Bertil Andrén; Lars Lönn; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Renal artery stenosis (RAS) is a potentially curable cause of hypertension and azotemia. Besides intra-arterial renal angiography there are several non-invasive techniques utilized to diagnose patients with suspicion of renal artery stenosis. LÄS MER
