  1. 6. Targeting and driving somatosensory neurons

    Författare :Fabio Freitag; Malin C. Lagerström; Andrew Todd; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pain; Itch; GRPR interneurons; dorsal horn; trigeminal nucleus caudalis; Barrel field;

    Sammanfattning : Pain and itch are two distinct sensations, but the fundamental question of how our nervous system distinguishes the processing and encoding of their related information is still far to be clearly delineated. At the spinal cord level, evidences have pointed out specific groups of neurons expressing the gastrin releasing peptide (Grp) and its receptor (Grpr) as responsible for carrying specifically itch-related information. 2. 7. Factors modulating neonatal pain responssiveness

    Författare :Lena L Bergqvist; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : To relieve pain in newborn infants, particularly preterm infants, is essential in modern neonatology. However, there are a number of innate difficulties related to pain assessment and pharmacological treatment, which includes in this thesis work. LÄS MER

  3. 8. The cellular processing of the endocannabinoid anandamide and its pharmacological manipulation

    Författare :Lina Thors; Christopher J Fowler; David A Kendall; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Endocannabinoid; anandamide; cellular processing; pain; flavonoids; fatty acid amide hydrolase; Pharmacology; Farmakologi; medicinsk farmakologi; Medical Pharmacology;

    Sammanfattning : Anandamide (arachidonoyl ethanolamide, AEA) and 2-arachidonoyl glycerol (2-AG) exert most of their actions by binding to cannabinoid receptors. The effects of the endocannabinoids are short-lived due to rapid cellular accumulation and metabolism, for AEA, primarily by the enzymes fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH). LÄS MER

  4. 9. Distribution and function of TRP ion channels in primary sensory neurons

    Författare :Helena Sturesson; Avdelningen för klinisk kemi och farmakologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; neurofysiologi; neuropsykologi; histokemi; cytokemi; vävnadskultur; Neurology; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; tissue culture; histochemistry; cytochemistry; Histology; Skin; Immunohistochemistry; Cannabinoid receptor 1 CB1 ; Pain; Primary sensory neurons; TRP ion channels; Pharmacological sciences; pharmacognosy; pharmacy; toxicology; Farmakologi; farmakognosi; farmaci; toxikologi; Histologi;

    Sammanfattning : It is frequently argued that cannabinoids exert part of their analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects via activation of the cannabinoid CB1 receptor located on TRPV1-expressing primary sensory nerve fibres in peripheral tissues. However, we find no evidence of CB1 receptor immunoreactivity on nerve fibres in rat or mouse hindpaw skin and mesenteric artery. LÄS MER

  5. 10. The effect of tobacco exposure on bone healing and the osseointegrationof dental implants

    Författare :Shariel Sayardoust; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; crevicular fluid; dental implants; gene expression; human; implant surfaces; implant survival; marginal bone loss; osseointegration; pain; periodontitis; resonance frequently analysis; smoking; titanium;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The mechanisms behind the impact of smoking on osseointegration are not fully understood. Aim: To correlate the clinical and molecular aspects of osseointegration in smokers compared with non-smokers. LÄS MER
