  1. 16. Pathophysiological aspects of transplantation-related complications following busulphan/cyclophosphamide conditioning regimen in mouse model

    Författare :Sulaiman Al-Hashmi; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Busulfan;

    Sammanfattning : Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is a curative treatment for several malignant and non-malignant disorders. However, transplantation related morbidity and mortality limit its use. The complications of the HSCT procedure can be caused by several factors including toxicity of the conditioning regimen and allogeneicity. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Levosimendan in early experimental sepsis: effects on the heart and hepatosplanchnic circulation

    Författare :Doris Cunha Goncalves; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; septic shock; myocardial oxygen consumption; myocardial dysfunction; levosimendan; endotoxin; contractility; catecholamines; calcium sensitizer; cardiotonic agents; splanchnic perfusion;

    Sammanfattning : Sepsis-related cardiovascular dysfunction associated with fluid-unresponsive tissue hypoperfusion might require inotropic treatment. This cardiovascular dysfunction seems to involve calcium desensitization and adrenergic unresponsiveness. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Psychosomatic aspects on diabetes and chronic pain Alexithymia, depression and salivary cortisol The Affect School and Script Analysis Therapy

    Författare :Eva Melin; Lund Medicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; depression; Alexithymia; anxiety; chronic benign pain; diabetes mellitus; midnight salivary cortisol; HbA1c; RCT; Affect School; Basic Body Awareness; psychosomatics.;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis explores links between psyche and soma in diabetes and in chronic benign pain (CBP). Interventions with Affect School and Script Analysis (ASSA) compared to Basic Body Awareness Therapy (BBAT) are tried. In a feasibility and treatment efficacy study we offered ASSA to 59 patients with CBP, and 54 (92%) completed. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Neuropeptide Y - aspects of vasomotorresponses and receptor characterization

    Författare :Torun Nilsson-Bergdahl; Lund Medicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; vasoconstriction; RT-PCR; receptor characterization; potentiation; NPY Y1 receptor; NPY; mitogenesis; hypertension; human arteries; forearm blood flow; cell culture; antisense oligodeoxynucleotides; BIBP3226; vasodilatation.; Physiology; Fysiologi; Endocrinology; secreting systems; diabetology; Endokrinologi; sekretion; diabetologi;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract The aims of the present thesis were to examine neuropeptide Y (NPY) responses in different human and guinea pig vascular beds and in cultured human vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMC) and to characterize, with different NPY agonists and the specific NPY Y1 receptor antagonist (BIBP3226), the NPY receptors involved. NPY-induced strong and potent contractions in human cerebral and subcutaneous arteries and in guinea pig basilar arteries. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Histamine receptors and neuropeptides in the cranial circulation

    Författare :Anders Ottosson; Rättsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; neurophysiology; neuropsychology; Neurology; Human - arteries - CGRP - SP - mast cells; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The sensory neuropeptides substance P (SP) and calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) are present in human cerebral, meningeal and temporal arteries, as are peptides associated with the sympathetic (neuropeptide Y, NPY) and parasympathetic (vasoactive intestinal peptide, VIP) nervous system. NPY is a vasoconstrictor in cerebral and meningeal arteries and potentiates noradrenaline (NA) as a vasoconstrictor in temporal arteries. LÄS MER
