    Sammanfattning : Abstract The aims of the present thesis were to examine neuropeptide Y (NPY) responses in different human and guinea pig vascular beds and in cultured human vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMC) and to characterize, with different NPY agonists and the specific NPY Y1 receptor antagonist (BIBP3226), the NPY receptors involved. NPY-induced strong and potent contractions in human cerebral and subcutaneous arteries and in guinea pig basilar arteries. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Structural and Functional Studies of Gas6

    Författare :Jonas Stenhoff; Malmö Klinisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Klinisk kemi; Clinical chemistry; EDTA; calcium; multimer; monomer; platelets; Mer; Axl; vitamin K; Gas6; human circulation; soluble receptor; Tyro3; receptor tyrosine kinases; growth factor;

    Sammanfattning : The vitamin K-dependent and ubiquitously expressed 82 kDa glycoprotein product of the growth-arrest-specific-gene 6, Gas6, shows 44% sequence identity to the anticoagulant protein, protein S. Both proteins share further the same domain organization. LÄS MER

  3. 3. In vitro wound healing characteristics of amelogenins

    Författare :Sofia Almqvist; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; amelogenins; extracellular matrix; cell culture; macrophage; fibroblast; endothelial cell; integrin; cytokine; inflammation; wound healing tissue repair;

    Sammanfattning : Wound healing involves the co-ordinated actions of several cell types, soluble cell mediators and extracellular matrix (ECM). This research project intended to investigate the role of certain ECM proteins in different processes during tissue repair by studying the interaction between dermal cells and ECM. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Transcriptional regulation of healthy and diabetic pancreatic beta-cell gene expression

    Författare :Hamedeh Ghanaat-pour; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : Hyperglycemia, deficient insulin secretion, and insulin resistance are the characteristic pathogenetic features of type 2 diabetes (T2D), hallmarked by functional and survival defects of the insulin-producing islet beta-cell. The primary pathogenesis of T2D probably involves both genetic and environmental forces, and hyperglycemia and very commonly hyperlipidemia might further aggravate beta-cell dysfunction. LÄS MER
