  1. 11. Monoamine transporters in female human reproduction

    Författare :Barbara Bottalico; Lund Obstetrik och gynekologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; PMAT; VMAT2; OCT; NET; in-situ hybridization histochemistry; decidualization; human endometrium; placenta; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Monoamine transporters; preeclampsia; histamine; Medicin människa och djur ;

    Sammanfattning : The present study explored the gene and protein expression of the monoamine transporters in human endometrium throughout the menstrual cycle, in early decidua and in placentas from normal as well as preeclamptic pregnancies using in-situ hybridization, real time-PCR, immunohistochemistry and primary tissue cultures. Four distinguishable patterns were observed in the endometrium over the menstrual cycle: (1) epithelial expression of norepinephrine transporter (NET) mRNA, (2) Stromal co- expression of vesicular monoamine transporter 2 (VMAT2) and plasma membrane monoamine transporter (PMAT) mRNAs with maximal intensity in the proliferative phase; (3) increasing epithelial expression of VMAT2 mRNA with a maximum in the late secretory phase; (4) stromal expression of extra-neuronal monoamine transporter (EMT) mRNA with a peak in the early secretory phase. 2. 12. Psychosocial and stress-related aspects on ischemic heart disease

    Författare :Inger M. Bengtsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Ischemic heart disease; risk factors; stress; cortisol awakening response; health related quality of life;

    Sammanfattning : Objective: To study different aspects of ischemic heart disease (IHD) i.e. stress related risk factors, biochemical markers of stress, in particular the cortisol awakening response (CAR) and outcome in terms of health related quality of life (HRQoL). Methods: 72 myocardial infarction (AMI) patients took part in the HRQoL studies. LÄS MER

  3. 13. The Serotonin Transporter and the Vesicular Monoamine Transporters During Development

    Författare :Stefan R Hansson; Lunds universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; whiskers; lateral geniculate; infraorbital nerve; neural crest; merkel; somatosensory cortex; Key wordscitalopram; thalamus; visual cortex; Physiology; Fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : In the present study, the mRNA encoding the serotonin transporter (5-HTT) and two isoforms of the vesicular monoamine transporters (VMAT1 and VMAT2) have been mapped in the rat throughout gestation and early postnatal development using in situ hybridization, RT PCR and immunohistochemistry. 5-HTT mRNA was found in serotonergic neurons and VMAT2 mRNA in all monoaminergic neurons from early gestation. 4. 14. Expression and function of vascular estrogen receptors alpha and beta

    Författare :Min Liang; Kärlfysiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Endocrinology; secreting systems; diabetologi; diabetology; Endokrinologi; sekretion; ubiquitin-proteasome pathway; MIP-2; MCP-1; iNOS; estrogen receptor knockout; estrogen receptor; aorta; estrogen;

    Sammanfattning : Estrogen receptors (ER) are expressed not only in classical target organs for estrogen like breast and uterus, but also in male reproductive system as well as in non-reproductive organs such as brain, liver and bone. The functions of ER are quite well known in reproductive organs but less information is available regarding their function in vascular tissue. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Reactivity of human omental blood vessels. Effects of 5-hydroxytryptamine, substance P and the intravenous anaesthetic propofol

    Författare :Susanna Wallerstedt; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; intensivvård; intensive care; Anaesthesiology; endothelium; calcium; human; hyperpolarization; K channels; nitric oxide; omental artery; omental vein; propofol; receptors; Anestesiologi; serotonin; sympathetic nervous system; substance P;

    Sammanfattning : Regulation of blood flow involves several endogenous substances and mechanisms, and exogenous substances may also affect the blood flow. In the present thesis, human omental blood vessels were investigated in vitro concerning (i) characteristics of 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) receptors; (ii) mediators of substance P (SP)-induced relaxation; (iii) direct and indirect (via effects on sympathetic neurotransmission) effects of the intravenous anaesthetic propofol.
