  1. 36. Zebrafish models for large-scale genetic screens in dyslipidemia and atherosclerosis : Validation and application

    Författare :Manoj Kumar Bandaru; Marcel den Hoed; Anastasia Emmanouilidou; Ingelsson Erik; Shannon Fisher; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; zebrafish; dyslipidemia; atherosclerosis; genetic screens; high-cholesterol diet; APOE; APOB; LDLR; APOC2; PCSK9; LPAR2; GATAD2A; Medicinsk genetik; Medical Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : Hundreds of loci have been robustly associated with circulating lipids, atherosclerosis and coronary artery disease; but for most loci the causal genes and mechanisms remain uncharacterized. The overall aim of my thesis is to develop and validate novel in vivo model systems that are suitable for high-throughput, image-based genetic screens in coronary artery disease and related traits, and use these model systems to systematically characterize positional candidate genes. 2. 37. Evaluation of Fluid-Structure Interaction and Biofidelity of Finite Element Head Models

    Författare :Zhou Zhou; Svein Kleiven; Xiaogai Li; David Meaney; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Applied Medical Technology; Tillämpad medicinsk teknik;

    Sammanfattning : Traumatic brain injury is a critical public health issue. Finite element (FE) head models are valuable instruments to explore the causal pathway from mechanical insult to resultant brain injury. Intracranial fluid-structure interaction (FSI) and biofidelity evaluation are two fundamental aspects of FE head modeling. LÄS MER

  3. 38. From Conceptual Links to Causal Relations — Physical-Virtual Artefacts in Mixed-Reality Space

    Författare :Thomas Pederson; Lars-Erik Janlert; William Buxton; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Människa-dator-interaktion; Human-Computer Interaction; Mixed Reality; Augmented Reality; Ubiquitous Computing; Pervasive Computing; Graspable User Interfaces; Tangible User Interfaces; Wearable Computing; Context Awareness; User Modelling; Interaction Design; Systems Design; Människa-dator-interaktion; Information technology; Informationsteknologi; business data processing; administrativ databehandling;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a set of concepts and a general design approach for designing Mixed Reality environments based on the idea that the physical (real) world and the virtual (digital) world are equally important and share many properties. Focus is on the design of a technology infrastructure intended to relieve people from some of the extra efforts currently needed when performing activities that make heavy use of both worlds. 4. 39. Modeling nutrient cycling and sustainable forest growth in a changing world

    Författare :Patrik Wallman; LUCSUS; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; nutrients; sustainability; ForSAFE; Chemical technology and engineering; forestry technology; forestry; Silviculture; system dynamics; forest growth models; dynamic modeling; Kemiteknik och kemisk teknologi; skogsbruk; skogsteknik; Skogsvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : It took 70-80 years to realize the width of the impact of industrialization on the forest ecosystems since a forest ecosystem is a "slow system" as seen from a human perspective. An anticipated future climate change and increasing carbon dioxide and ozone levels will change the conditions even more with time and the widely used statistical forest growth models will not be applicable anymore. 5. 40. Toward Accident Prevention Through Machine Learning Analysis of Accident Reports

    Författare :May Shayboun; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; health and safety.; construction; machine learning; prevention; Accident report; accident causation models;

    Sammanfattning : Occupational safety remains of interest in the construction sector. The frequency of accidents has decreased in Sweden but only to a level that remains constant over the last ten years. LÄS MER
