  1. 1. Epidemiological Aspects on Assessing and Treating Dyslipidemia in Type 1 Diabetes Studies from the Swedish National Diabetes Register

    Detta är en avhandling från Göteborgs universitet

    Författare :Christel Hero; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2020]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Type 1 diabetes; dyslipidemia;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a major cause of shortened longevity in individuals with type 1 diabetes. Dyslipidemia is one of the important modifiable risk factors. Aims: To investigate different aspects of dyslipidemia in type 1 diabetes. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Zebrafish models for large-scale genetic screens in dyslipidemia and atherosclerosis Validation and application

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Manoj Kumar Bandaru; Marcel den Hoed; Anastasia Emmanouilidou; Ingelsson Erik; Shannon Fisher; [2019]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; zebrafish; dyslipidemia; atherosclerosis; genetic screens; high-cholesterol diet; APOE; APOB; LDLR; APOC2; PCSK9; LPAR2; GATAD2A; Medicinsk genetik; Medical Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : Hundreds of loci have been robustly associated with circulating lipids, atherosclerosis and coronary artery disease; but for most loci the causal genes and mechanisms remain uncharacterized. The overall aim of my thesis is to develop and validate novel in vivo model systems that are suitable for high-throughput, image-based genetic screens in coronary artery disease and related traits, and use these model systems to systematically characterize positional candidate genes. 3. 3. Genetic Determinants of Dyslipidemia

    Detta är en avhandling från Lund University: Faculty of Medicine

    Författare :Tibor V Varga; [2016]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetic epidemiology; Genetic polymorphism; dyslipidaemia; Cholesterol; Triglyceride; Genetic risk; genetic risk score; Single nucleotide polymorphism; Prediction; Gene-environment interactions; Randomized controlled trial; prospective cohort studies; Observational study; GLACIER Study; Diabetes Prevention Program;

    Sammanfattning : Dyslipidemia is a chronic deviation from normal blood lipid levels that can lead to atherosclerosis and other cardiovascular diseases; dyslipidemia and its sequelae are caused by the complex interplay of genetic and environmental factors. Although circulating concentrations of total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) have a strong genetic underpinning, not much is known about the genetic factors that affect long-term deteriorations in lipid concentrations. 4. 4. Inflammatory mediators in diabetic retinopathy

    Detta är en avhandling från Faculty of Medicine, Lund University

    Författare :Carin Gustavsson; [2010]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; inflammation; dyslipidemia; diabetic retinopathy; oxidative stress; TNF-alpha; VCAM-1;

    Sammanfattning : Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is the most feared complication of diabetes with an overall prevalence of 21.9-36.8% and may, if untreated, lead to severe visual disability or blindness. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Conjugated linoleic acid and the metabolic syndrome : Clinical and metabolic studies with special reference to insulin resistance, oxidative stress and inflammation

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Tryck & Medier

    Författare :Ulf Risérus; Keith Frayn; [2002]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; Metabolic syndrome; dietary fatty acids; conjugated linoleic acid; insulin resistance; oxidative stress; inflammation; cardiovascular disease; dyslipidemia; abdominal obesity; type 2 diabetes; Medicin; MEDICINE Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; MEDICIN Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin; Nutrition; näringslära;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to investigate the metabolic effects of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) in middle-aged men with the metabolic syndrome, a high-risk group for type 2 diabetes. CLA is a group of fatty acid isomers with antiobesity and antidiabetogenic effects in animals, and CLA is therefore used as a supplement in humans. LÄS MER
