  1. 6. On the etiology and pathogenesis of systemic lupus erythematosus with special reference to environmental factors

    Författare :Anders Bengtsson; Reumatologi och molekylär skelettbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; muscle system; rheumatology locomotion; Skelett; muskelsystem; reumatologi; Skeleton; Risk factors; Human parvovirus B19; Immune complex; Disease activity; Interferon-alpha; SLE; Retrovirus;

    Sammanfattning : Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a complex autoimmune disease in which environmental factors interact with genetic factors in the development of the disease process and evolution of clinical manifestations. In this thesis both exogenous factors and host factors were investigated, as well as important immunopathological aspects including involvement of immune complex (IC), the complement system and interferon-alpha (IFN-α). 2. 7. Structure and Interactions of the Extracellular Matrix Protein PRELP

    Författare :Eva Bengtsson; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; reumatologi; muskelsystem; Skelett; extracellular matrix; PRELP; heparin; heparan sulfate; perlecan; collagen; cell-binding; Skeleton; rheumatology locomotion; muscle system; Biochemistry; Metabolism; Biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the structure and interactions of a novel extracellular matrix protein - PRELP (proline arginine-rich end leucine-rich repeat protein). The amino acid sequence of PRELP showed that it belonged to the leucine-rich repeat (LRR) protein family in connective tissues. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Extracellular Matrix Remodelling-Proteoglycan and collagen turnover in arthritis

    Författare :Anette Bjärdahlen; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Arthritis; collagen; cartilage; myofibroblasts; pannus; proteoglycan; Skeleton; muscle system; rheumatology locomotion; reumatologi; Skelett; muskelsystem;

    Sammanfattning : Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, inflammatory and systemic disease characterised by joint destruction and pannus formation. To enlarge the understanding how pannus and granulation tissue are formed two animal models were used; one using cartilage wrapped in cotton and implanted into a rat air pouch (AP) and one where mBSA induced arthritis (AIA) was performed. 4. 9. Lower Extremity Function in Arthritis

    Författare :Ann Bremander; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; reumatologi; muskelsystem; Skelett; rheumatology locomotion; muscle system; Skeleton; Knee injury; Arthritis; Reliability; Self-registered physical function; Validity; Observed physical function; Physical medicine; Rehabilitering medicinsk och social ; kinesitherapy; revalidation; rehabilitation;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to develop and apply self-registered and observed measures of physical function in people with arthritis in the lower extremity. In Paper I, 181 subjects from the Swedish Knee Arthroplasty Register who were satisfied with their primary knee arthroplasty were studied. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents studies of molecular motors in interaction with nm-scale structures, as well as the development of a set of tools that can be used for the construction of custom-designed nano-transportation systems. In our studies, we have used the latest nanoscale technology and combined this with advanced results from chemistry and biomedical sciences. LÄS MER
