  1. 6. On Neuroimmunology and Brain Function: Experimental and Clinical Studies

    Författare :Nina Strenn; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; immune system; mental disorders; polymorphisms; depression; autism; bipolar disorder; SSRI; S100B; 5-HTR2A; Flinders sensitive line;

    Sammanfattning : The immune system has been implicated in the mechanisms underlying many psychiatric disorders. Immune mediators are expressed in the central nervous system (CNS) not only in response to harmful stimuli, but also in a constitutive manner, and serve as important plasticity factors during development. 2. 7. On severe traumatic brain injury : aspects of an intra cranial pressure-targeted therapy based on the Lund concept

    Författare :Magnus Olivecrona; Lars-Owe D Koskinen; Bertil Romner; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; severe traumatic brain injury; ICP targeted therapy; ICP; hemicraniectomy; seizures; prostacyclin; microdialysis; outcome; S100B; NSE; Neurosurgery; Neurokirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Severe Traumatic Brain Injury (sTBI) is a major cause of mortality and morbidity. At the Department of Neurosurgery Umeå University Hospital subjects with sTBI are treated with an intracranial pressure (ICP) guided therapy based on physiological principles, aiming to optimise the microcirculation of the brain so avoiding secondary brain injuries. 3. 8. Clinical Aspects of Pediatric Head Injury

    Författare :Ramona Åstrand; Neurokirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Head injury; Traumatic brain injury; Children; Management; Radiology; Biochemical brain injury markers; protein S100B;

    Sammanfattning : Traumatic head injury is one of the leading causes to severe morbidity and death among children. Specific and national management guidelines for pediatric head injuries are lacking in Sweden, and management routines are consequently based on adult guidelines or local guidelines. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Biomarkers for organ damage and/or dysfuntion are used in almost all areas of medicine. The brain has eluded this technological development for some time. Recently, the S100B protein has been shown to be a promising marker of brain damage. However, before S100S can reach clinical reality, several problems must be solved. LÄS MER
