11. STAT5 expression and regulation in mammary epithelial cells
Sammanfattning : The mammary gland of an adult mammal undergoes cycles of proliferation and differentiation influenced by growth factors, peptide, and steroid hormones, e.g. epidermal growth factor (EGF), prolactin (PRL) and estrogen (E). LÄS MER
12. Bacteria-based methods for engineering and characterization of proteases and affinity proteins
Sammanfattning : This thesis is focused on the development of methods for characterization and engineering of both proteases and affinity proteins. In addition, a prodrug concept for small affinity proteins is developed. Two of the developed methods are for engineering and/or characterization of proteases. LÄS MER
13. Reportaget som berättelse : En narratologisk undersökning av reportagegenren
Sammanfattning : This study is the first dissertation where the genre of reportage (in the U.S. classified as literary journalism) is systematically mapped with the help of narratology. Using tools primarily from structural discourse narratology, the thesis examines, describes and maps written reportages as narratives. LÄS MER
14. In vivo properties of neural stem cells after transplantation into the rat brain-Studies of phenotypic differentiation and functional integration using cell-specific labelling and electrophysiological techniques
Sammanfattning : In the present thesis, we have examined the in vivo properties of in vitro expanded human and rat neural stem-and progenitor cells after transplantation into the neonatal and adult rat brain. The survival and differentiation of the grafted cells were assessed using species-specific antisera, and pre-labelling with the reporter gene green fluorescent protein (GFP). LÄS MER
15. The ADAR editing enzymes as therapeutic targets
Sammanfattning : Editing by deamination of adenosine to inosine (A-to-I) in double-stranded RNA is a common event in the human transcriptome. Altered levels of the essential ADAR1 activity are associated with disease. Children with mutations in the ADAR1 gene suffer from fatal Aicardi-Goutières syndrome (AGS) characterized by aberrant interferon expression. LÄS MER
