41. The Smc5/6 complex : linking DNA replication with chromosome segregation
Sammanfattning : In order to faithfully propagate the genetic material from one generation to the next, cells need to properly replicate and segregate their chromosomes. The three well-conserved eukaryotic Structural Maintenance of Chromosomes (SMC) protein complexes, cohesin, condensin and the Smc5/6 complex (Smc5/6) organize chromosomes to ensure that the daughter cells receive a full complement of chromosomes. 42. Exploring the Cell Cycle of Archaea
Sammanfattning : Archaea is the third domain of life, discovered only thirty years ago. In a microscope archaea appear indistinguishable from bacteria, but they have been shown to be more closely related to eukaryotes than to bacteria. Especially central information processing is homologous to that of eukaryotes. LÄS MER
43. Pathology of dNTP dysregulation
Sammanfattning : Deoxyribonucleoside triphosphates (dNTPs) are precursors for DNA replication and repair. Mammalian cells have two distinct biosynthesis pathways to supply dNTPs: de novo and salvage pathways. LÄS MER
44. Stress response regulation and protein aggregate inheritance in Caulobacter crescentus
Sammanfattning : Many stress conditions a cell encounters threaten the continuation of basic biological processes ultimately endangering its survival. Heat shock and antibiotic exposure can lead to a sudden surge of protein un- and misfolding, while nutrient starvation directly causes a lack of energy and molecular building blocks. LÄS MER
45. Genomic and transcriptomic sequencing in chronic lymphocytic leukemia
Sammanfattning : Identification of recurrent mutations through next-generation sequencing (NGS) has given us a deeper understanding of the molecular mechanisms involved in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) development and progression and provided novel means for risk assessment in this clinically heterogeneous disease. In paper I, we screened a population-based cohort of CLL patients (n=364) for TP53, NOTCH1, SF3B1, BIRC3 and MYD88 mutations using Sanger sequencing, and confirmed the negative prognostic impact of TP53, SF3B1 or NOTCH1 aberrations, though at lower frequencies compared to previous studies.
