  1. 26. DNA precursor biosynthesis-allosteric regulation and medical applications

    Författare :Reza Rofougaran; Anders Hofer; Thomas Borén; Staffan Eriksson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; DNA biosynthesis; ribonucleotide reductase; allosteric regulation; Trypanosoma brucei; adenosine kinase; nucleoside analogs; mitochondrial DNA; TWINKLE; Biokemi; medicinsk biokemi; Medical Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Ribonucleotide reductase (RNR) is a key enzyme for de novo dNTP biosynthesis. We have studied nucleotide-dependent oligomerization of the allosterically regulated mammalian RNR using a mass spectrometry–related technique called Gas-phase Electrophoretic Mobility Macromolecule Analysis (GEMMA). 2. 27. Biochemical studies of mitochondrial DNA maintenance and topology

    Författare :Direnis Erdinc; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mtDNA maintenance; topoisomerase; replication;

    Sammanfattning : Mitochondria are crucial organelles in eukaryotic cells that produce the majority of adenosine trisphosphate used by cells as an energy currency to drive metabolic processes. Due to the endosymbiotic origin of mitochondria, they have their own genetic material, a small circular double-stranded molecule (mtDNA) of 16. LÄS MER

  3. 28. Epigenetic Regulation of Replication Timing and Signal Transduction

    Författare :Rosita Bergström; Aristidis Moustakas; Carl-Henrik Heldin; Rolf Ohlsson; Alain Mauviel; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Upon fertilization the paternal and maternal genomes unite, giving rise to the embryo, with its unique genetic code. All cells in the human body are derived from the fertilized ovum: hence they all contain (with a few exceptions) the same genetic composition. LÄS MER

  4. 29. Induction of apoptosis in relation to chromatin structure and inhibition of replication by DNA damage from ionizing radiation

    Författare :Jesper Torudd; Mats Harms-Ringdahl; Mats Ljungman; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ionizing radiation; DNA-loop; replication fork; Toxicology; Toxikologi;

    Sammanfattning : The theme of this thesis has been chromatin organization ranging from methodological studies to involvement in apoptotic response. The aims have been: (i) to compare the information obtained by the AVTD method and comet assay concerning DNA-loop organization, (ii) to test the hypothesis that DNA-loop relaxation could be the triggering signal for induction of apoptosis in G0-lymphocytes, and (iii) to study the dose response for inhibition of the replication fork movement and pathways for the DNA repair process at the replication fork. 5. 30. Real-time PCR studies of genotypes, mutations and replication of hepatitis B virus

    Författare :Sebastian Malmström; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; hepatitis B virus; real-time PCR; lamivudine resistance; genotypes; replication;

    Sammanfattning : Infection with hepatitis B virus (HBV) is an important cause of liver disease and affects 350 million people worldwide, causing 600,000 deaths/year. Treatment includes interferon and nucleoside analogues (NAs) such as lamivudine, entecavir, and tenofovir. LÄS MER
