  1. 21. CYTOGENETIC AND MOLECULAR GENETIC CHARACTERIZATION OF LIPOMAS

    Författare :Hammurabi Bartuma; Avdelningen för klinisk genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; soft tissue tumors; adipocytic tumors; conventional lipomas; spindle cell lipoma; HMGA2; cytogenetic; molecular genetic; SNP array; GGE;

    Sammanfattning : The focus of this thesis was to study cytogenetic and molecular genetic aberrations in lipomas. For this purpose, chromosome banding analysis, fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), as well as high resolution single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP)–arrays were used to identify recurrent chromosomal aberrations in lipomas. 2. 22. Rate Limiting Factors For Protein Folding

    Författare :Maria Berggård Silow; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; kinetic competition; transient aggregation; diffusion control; reconfiguration time; collapse; osmolytes; broad barriers; Hammond behaviour; two-state; U1A; CI2; Proteins; enzymology; Proteiner; enzymologi;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract. This thesis describes factors that are rate limiting for the folding of two small proteins, U1A and CI2 which fold without accumulating intermediates. The [GdnHCl] dependencies of the unfolding- and refolding kinetics of U1A display downward curvatures. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Genetic Characterization of Bone and Soft Tissue Tumors

    Författare :Anna Dahlen; Avdelningen för klinisk genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; cytogenetik; Genetik; cytogenetics; mesenchymal tumor; pericytoma; Genetics; chondroma; lipoma;

    Sammanfattning : Bone and soft tissue tumors (BSTT) constitute a heterogeneous group of neoplasms of mesenchymal and neuroectodermal origin. Although many BSTT are rare, it has become clear that BSTT are characterized by recurrent acquired chromosomal aberrations, and the general aim of this thesis have been to apply molecular genetic and molecular cytogenetic techniques to further characterize recurrent breakpoints and deletions, and to search for candidate target genes. 4. 24. End-to-side nerve repair - A study in the forelimb of the rat

    Författare :Eleana Bontioti; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Nerve regeneration; Kirurgi; traumatology; Surgery; orthopaedics; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Retrograde labelling; ATF3; Collateral sprouting; ortopedi; traumatologi; Nerve injury;

    Sammanfattning : Nerve injuries have a profound impact on individuals, suffering for the patients and induce cost for society. When dealing with severe nerve injuries that create a gap between nerve segments or when the injury is at the brachial plexus level, the clinical alternatives are limited. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Novel Insights into Inflammatory Disturbed Bone Remodelling

    Författare :Elin Kindstedt; Pernilla Lundberg; Östen Ljunggren; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; bone; osteoblast; osteoclast; chemokines; CCL11; periodontitis; rheumatoid arthritis; innate lympoid cells; odontologi; Odontology; immunologi; Immunology; biology; biologi; reumatologi; rheumatology;

    Sammanfattning : Bone is a dynamic tissue that is continuously remodelled, a process that requires equal amounts of osteoclastic bone resorption and osteoblastic bone formation. Inflammation may disturb the equilibrium and result in local and/or systemic bone loss. Negative bone mass balance occurs in several chronic inflammatory diseases, e.g. LÄS MER
