  1. 1. Genetic studies on cardiovascular disease - identification of novel drug targets

    Detta är en avhandling från Cardiology

    Författare :Stefan Amisten; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2007]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; platelet; single nucleotide polymorphism; myocardial infarction; stent; G-protein coupled receptor; P2Y; cytogenetics; Genetik; cytogenetik; Cardiovascular system; Kardiovaskulära systemet;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to identify novel potential drug targets of cardiovascular disease with a focus on G-protein coupled receptors. We identified a common genetic variant of the ATP receptor P2Y11, where an alanine is substituted with a threonine at position 87 of the P2Y11 receptor that increases the risk of developing acute myocardial infarction. 2. 2. A new perspective on avian phylogeny - a study based on mitochondrial genomes

    Detta är en avhandling från Department of Genetics, Lund University

    Författare :Anna Bartosch-Härlid; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [1999]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Genetics; thyroid; neoteni; mitochondrial DNA; phylogeny; Class Aves; Palaeognathae; cytogenetics; Genetik; cytogenetik;

    Sammanfattning : The Class Aves (birds) is generally divided into two main groups - the Palaeognathae and the Neognathae. Paleognathous birds are the flightless ratites and the tinamous, while Neognathae include all other extant birds (more than 9,000 species). LÄS MER

  3. 3. On the binding of growth-promoting polyamines to proteoglycans: Implications for growth-regulation and polycation-mediated gene transfer

    Detta är en avhandling från Department of Cell and Molecular Biology, Lund University

    Författare :Mattias Belting; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [1999]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; cationic lipid.; gene transfer; gene therapy; cell growth; polyamine transport; spermine; polyamine; growth-inhibition; heparan sulphate; dermatan sulphate; Proteoglycan; glycosaminoglycan; cytogenetics; Genetik; cytogenetik;

    Sammanfattning : Initial investigations were directed at studying the interaction between polyamines and various glycosaminoglycans (GAGs). The polyamine spermine displayed binding to dermatan sulphate (DS) and heparan sulphate (HS) with similar (Kd, 3.9 x 10-4 M) and higher (Kd, 0.37 x 10-6 M) affinity, respectively, than to DNA. 4. 4. Functional analysis of the alpha10beta1 integrin

    Detta är en avhandling från Therese Bengtsson (Cartela AB) or from library

    Författare :Therese Bengtsson; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2004]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; cytogenetics; Genetik; cytogenetik; limb; gene targeting; chondrocyte; integrin; cartilage;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to study the function of the integrin a10b1. Integrins mediate signals between cells and their environment and regulate several cellular processes such as cell migration, proliferation and differentiation. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Evolutionary History of the Root Vole (Microtus oeconomus) as Revealed by Y Chromosome and Mitochondrial DNA sequences

    Detta är en avhandling från Cecilia Brunhoff, Dept. of Cell and Organism Biology, Lund University, Sweden

    Författare :Cecilia Brunhoff; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2003]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Genetics; colonization history; phylogeography; root vole; cytogenetics; Genetik; cytogenetik;

    Sammanfattning : The root vole (Microtus oeconomus) is a rodent with Holarctic distribution. In fact, it is the only Microtus vole found in both Eurasia and North America. Phylogeographic analyses of the root vole from across its distribution range were performed using mitochondrial and Y chromosome DNA sequences. LÄS MER
