    Sammanfattning : This study analyses how medical personnel in cardiac intensive care create safety despite the uncertainties and dangers involved in this type of care. Using an ethnographic approach, involving participant observation and interviews, the author studies the means by which the staff, as a part of their everyday work, achieve safety - in their relationships to patients, medical technology and each other.     Sammanfattning : The subject of this dissertation is Swedish upper secondary pupils’ reception of novels read as part of their literature instruction. The main purpose is to study and compare the reading of female pupils with that of male pupils and to analyze to what extent attention is paid to their private reading experiences in the literary teaching.
