  1. 1. Cyclic peptides as biological tools : Applications for diagnosis and therapeutics in rheumatoid arthritis and COVID-19

    Författare :Camilla Eriksson; Ulf Göransson; Sunithi Gunasekera; Christian Becker; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Scaffold peptides; peptide grafting; rheumatoid arthritis; SARS-CoV-2; autoantibodies; peptide synthesis; pharmacognosy;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aims of the projects included in this thesis were to design, synthesize and evaluate cyclic peptide scaffolds grafted with biological epitopes for their ability to bind antibodies in rheumatoid arthritis and COVID-19 sera. One of the main outcomes of this thesis was the observation that scaffold peptides grafted with target epitopes efficiently neutralized anti-citrullinated protein autoantibodies (ACPA) from rheumatoid arthritis patients. 2. 2. On the Design of Affibody Molecules for Radiolabeling and In Vivo Molecular Imaging

    Författare :Daniel Rosik; Amelie Eriksson Karlström; Christian Heinis; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Affibody molecule; AC DC; radionuclide molecular imaging; HER2; SPECT; PET; biodistribution; peptide synthesis; radiolabeling; SRA - Molecular Bioscience; SRA - Molekylär biovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Affibody molecules have lately shown great potential as tools for in vivo molecular imaging. These small, 3-helical bundles, with their highly stable protein scaffold, are well suited for the often harsh conditions of radiolabeling. LÄS MER

  3. 3. HYDROPHOBIC PEPTIDE TAGS - As tools in bioseparation and investigation of recombinant proteins

    Författare :Sara Fexby; Tillämpad biokemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; E. coli; Biochemical technology; Biokemisk teknik; fusion protein; tyrosine; hydrophobicity; Hydrophobic interaction chromatography; aqueous two-phase system;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the possibility of using hydrophobic peptide tags as tools for bioseparation and for the investigation of recombinant proteins. The hydrophobicity of a protein can easily be changed by minor modifications, such as fusions of tyrosine-containing peptides. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Blood pressure-dependent changes in plasma volume, glycocalyx and platelet function during anaesthesia -Clinical and experimental studies

    Författare :Tor Damén; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; anaesthesia; blood pressure; hypotension; norepinephrine; haematocrit; plasma volume; atrial natriuretic peptide; glycocalyx; platelet aggregation;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Worldwide, more than 300 million surgeries are performed each year. General anaesthesia provides the surgical patient with a state of controlled loss of sensation and awareness. It is common that general anaesthesia causes hypotension. Anaesthesia-induced hypotension is associated with haemodilution and increased plasma volume (PV). LÄS MER

  5. 5. Neurohormonal Modulators in the Parathyroid Gland. Localization and regulation

    Författare :Lena Luts; Malmö Patologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Receptor; In situ hybridization; Immunocytochemistry; Nitric Oxide Synthase; Endothelin; Neuropeptides; Chromogranin; Parathyroid adenoma; Parathyroid gland; Parathyroid hormone; mRNA; Endocrinology; secreting systems; diabetology; Endokrinologi; sekretion; diabetologi;

    Sammanfattning : The occurrence and distribution of neurohormonal peptides, neuroendocrine markers and receptors in parathyroid nerve fibers and endocrine cells are described, using immunocytochemistry, in situ hybridization, image analysis and reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction. Immunocytochemical studies revealed that parathyroid glands of chicken, rat, guinea-pig, cat, dog and sheep contained adrenergic-, cholinergic-, and peptide-containing nerve fibers. LÄS MER
