  1. 36. The hyperosmolar airway : Mechanisms of reduced response to nitric oxide

    Författare :Josephine Hjoberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; 8-Br-cyclic GMP; airway epithelium; airway reactivity; airway smooth muscle; amiloride; epithelium derived relaxing factor; furosemide; hyperosmolarity; hypertonic saline; nitric oxide; SNAP; sodium chloride; sodium nitroprusside; superoxide; tracheal perfusion; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Clinical Physiology; klinisk fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Inhaled nitric oxide (NO) relaxes smooth muscle of the airways and of pulmonary blood vessels and is used to treat lung diseases where the pulmonary vessels are constricted. NO has also been tested as a bronchodilator in asthmatic patients. LÄS MER

  2. 37. Aluminium oxide - poly(ethylene-co-butylacrylate) nanocomposites : synthesis, structure, transport properties and long-term performance

    Författare :Patricia Nordell; Ulf Gedde; Lars Wågberg; Minna Hakkarainen; KTH; []

    Sammanfattning : Polymer nanocomposites are promising materials for dielectrical use in high voltage applications and insulations. This work presents a study of nanocomposites based on poly(ethylene-co-butyl acrylate) with two different comonomer compositions and two different aluminium oxide nanoparticles. LÄS MER

  3. 38. Pulmonary Hypertension and the Nitric Oxide System

    Författare :Dan Henrohn; Gerhard Wikström; Ulla Lindqvist; John Pernow; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pulmonary hypertension; nitric oxide; ADMA; arginine; nitrate; nitrite; vardenafil; beetroot juice; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a pathophysiological state associated with several medical conditions, leading to progressive rise in pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR) and right ventricular failure. The clinical PH classification encompasses five main World Health Organization (WHO) groups; pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), PH due to left heart disease, PH due to lung diseases and/or hypoxia, chronic thromboembolic PH, and PH with unclear multifactorial mechanisms. 4. 39. Nitric Oxide Regulation during Anti-tumor Immunotherapy

    Författare :Wiaam Badn; Neurokirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; transplantation; Immunologi; serology; Immunology; Medicin människa och djur ; immunotherapy; Medicine human and vertebrates ; immunosuppression; PGE2; Nitric oxide; serologi;

    Sammanfattning : During tumor progression a strong immunosuppression is developed and is believed to be the major reason why immunotherapy fails. This suppression is induced in response to factors produced from tumor cells, but can also be induced after immunotherapy. LÄS MER

  5. 40. Regulation of cytokine-induced nitric oxide production in insulin-producing cells

    Författare :Malin Flodström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell biology; Diabetes; pancreatic islets; insulin-producing cells; cytokines; nitric oxide; inducible nitric oxide synthase; nuclear factor-kappaB; interferon regulatory factor-1; arginine; citrulline; argininosuccinate synthetase; insulin release; Cellbiologi; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; medicinsk cellbiologi; Medical Cell Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Cytokine-induced expression of the inducible form of nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and production of nitric oxide (NO) may contribute to pancreatic β-cell damage during the development of type 1 diabetes. iNOS catalyses the conversion of arginine into citrulline and NO, a reaction regulated by the amount of expressed iNOS enzyme and by the cellular availability of arginine.
