  1. 1. Regulation of cytokine-induced nitric oxide production in insulin-producing cells

    Författare :Malin Flodström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell biology; Diabetes; pancreatic islets; insulin-producing cells; cytokines; nitric oxide; inducible nitric oxide synthase; nuclear factor-kappaB; interferon regulatory factor-1; arginine; citrulline; argininosuccinate synthetase; insulin release; Cellbiologi; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; medicinsk cellbiologi; Medical Cell Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Cytokine-induced expression of the inducible form of nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and production of nitric oxide (NO) may contribute to pancreatic β-cell damage during the development of type 1 diabetes. iNOS catalyses the conversion of arginine into citrulline and NO, a reaction regulated by the amount of expressed iNOS enzyme and by the cellular availability of arginine. 2. 2. Pulmonary Hypertension and the Nitric Oxide System

    Författare :Dan Henrohn; Gerhard Wikström; Ulla Lindqvist; John Pernow; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pulmonary hypertension; nitric oxide; ADMA; arginine; nitrate; nitrite; vardenafil; beetroot juice; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a pathophysiological state associated with several medical conditions, leading to progressive rise in pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR) and right ventricular failure. The clinical PH classification encompasses five main World Health Organization (WHO) groups; pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), PH due to left heart disease, PH due to lung diseases and/or hypoxia, chronic thromboembolic PH, and PH with unclear multifactorial mechanisms. 3. 3. Zeolite adsorbents and catalysts for the recovery and production of biochemicals

    Författare :Abrar Faisal; Mattias Grahn; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Zeolites; Adsorbents; Catalyst; Butanol; Arginine; ZSM-5; Chemical Technology; Kemisk teknologi;

    Sammanfattning : Fossil based energy resources are dominating the world’s primary energy consumption for the last century. However, with decreasing crude oil reservoirs and the role they play in global warming by emitting greenhouse gases, the focus has been turned towards improved utilization of renewable resources and the need for new, sustainable fuels and chemicals is more urgent than ever. 4. 4. Subarachnoid haemorrhage : clinical and epidemiological studies

    Författare :Cecilia Lindgren; Silvana Naredi; Magnus Hultin; Lars-Owe Koskinen; Elisabeth Ronne-Engström; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Subarachnoid haemorrhage; ADMA; Cortisol; EEG; inflammation; epidemiology; endothelium; arginine; anestesiologi; Anaesthesiology; neurokirurgi; Neurosurgery; epidemiologi; Epidemiology;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH) is a severe stroke that in 85% of all cases is caused by the rupture of a cerebral aneurysm. The median age at onset is 50-55 years and the overall mortality is approximately 45%.Sufficient cortisol levels are important for survival. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Cell-Penetrating Penetratin Peptides - Mechanistic Studies on Uptake Pathways and DNA Delivery Efficiency

    Författare :Helene Åmand; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Plasma membrane vesicle; Lysine; Stimulated endocytosis; Gene delivery; Cell surface affinity; Penetratin; Cell-penetrating peptide; Cysteine; Uptake; Arginine;

    Sammanfattning : Delivery of gene-targeted drugs is limited by the inherently poor capacity of nucleic acids to overcome the membrane barrier of the cell, and development of vectors that can promote uptake is therefore crucial. Cell penetrating peptides (CPPs) have emerged as promising vector candidates due to their ability to deliver a wide range of macromolecular cargos into cells. LÄS MER
