27. Electrical Characterization of Metal-Oxide-Silicon Structures with Ultra Thin Oxide Layers
Sammanfattning : Metal-oxide-semiconductor (MOS) structures with very thin (2 - 4 nm) oxide layers thermally grown on silicon have been electrically characterized regarding oxide and interface defects and concerning the direct tunnel current through the oxide. This thesis comprises eight papers which deal with the appearance of oxide charge during electrical stress (papers A, D, E), the beneficial effect on the defect density of low-temperature (up to 350 °C) post-metallization annealing (PMA) (paper A, B, C, G), and the effect of temperature and choice of metal for the tunnel current (paper F, H). 28. Synchronized delivery of inspired nitric oxide : Effects on oxygenation and pulmonary tension during artificial ventilation
Sammanfattning : Nitric oxide (NO) is a mediator of vascular smooth muscle tension that metabolises rapidly in blood. NO delivered by inhalation can therefore be used as a selective pulmonary vasodilator to relieve pulmonary hypertension or to improve oxygenation with no systemic effects. LÄS MER
29. Airway responsiveness and exhaled nitric oxide : Studies in asthma and Sjögren's syndrome
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, four different types of provocation agents: methacholine, adenosine, cold air and mannitol were used to study different aspects of the airway responsiveness profile in asthma and Sjögren's syndrome. Exhaled nitric oxide (NO) and markers of eosinophil activation, serum eosinophil peroxidase (S-EPO) and eosinophil cationic protein (S-ECP) were measured. LÄS MER
30. Investigation of electrochemical properties and performance of stimulation/sensing electrodes for pacemaker applications
Sammanfattning : People suffering from certain types of arrhythmia may benefit from the implantation of a cardiac pacemaker. Pacemakers artificially stimulate the heart by applying short electrical pulses to the cardiac tissue to restore and maintain a steady heart rhythm. By adjusting the pulse delivery rate the heart is stimulated to beat at desired pace. LÄS MER
