  1. 1. Coarctation of the aorta : register and imaging studies

    Författare :Daniel Rinnström; Bengt Johansson; Michael Henein; Martin Ugander; Gerhard-Paul Diller; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; coarctation of the aorta; adult congenital heart disease; hypertension; left ventricular hypertrophy; body mass index; height; weight; register; CMR;

    Sammanfattning : Background Coarctation of the aorta (CoA) constitutes 5-8 % of all congenital heart disease (CHD) and is associated with long-term complications such as hypertension (HTN) and left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH). Factors associated with HTN, LVH, and diffuse myocardial fibrosis, are not yet fully explored in this population. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Clinical Aspects on Chimney Stent Graft Technique in Endovascular Repair of the Aorta

    Författare :Adel BinJabr; Vaskulära sjukdomar - kliniska studier; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Chimney stent graft; chimney graft; chimney graft technique; snorkel technique; endovascular aortic repair; thoracic endovascular aortic repair; endoleak; patency; rupture; urgent; stent-graft; stent; graft; aorta; computed tomography; ultrasound; stenosis; EVAR; TEVAR; CTA; MRI; AAA; TAAA; supraaortic; visceral; aneurysm; dissection; mycotic infection; stent-graft infection; follow-up; endovascular complication; sandwich technique; periscope graft; periscope graft technique.;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: Open repair of the aorta carries a high risk for morbidity and mortality especially in the elderly population and in patients unfit for major surgery. Endovascular aortic repair is safe, durable and effective when there is adequate proximal and distal sealing zone for the aortic stent graft. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Expression and function of vascular estrogen receptors alpha and beta

    Författare :Min Liang; Kärlfysiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Endocrinology; secreting systems; diabetologi; diabetology; Endokrinologi; sekretion; ubiquitin-proteasome pathway; MIP-2; MCP-1; iNOS; estrogen receptor knockout; estrogen receptor; aorta; estrogen;

    Sammanfattning : Estrogen receptors (ER) are expressed not only in classical target organs for estrogen like breast and uterus, but also in male reproductive system as well as in non-reproductive organs such as brain, liver and bone. The functions of ER are quite well known in reproductive organs but less information is available regarding their function in vascular tissue. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Ultrasound evaluation of atherosclerosis and other cardiovascular sources of cerebral embolism

    Författare :Robert Wetterholm; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :stroke; atherosclerosis; aorta; echocardiography; ultrasound; IMT; MES; WHHL;

    Sammanfattning : The search for embolic sources has high priority in patients presenting with suspected cerebral embolism. Non-invasive cardiovascular ultrasound is frequently used to reveal the presence of carotid stenosis and cardiac disorders with embolic potential. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Abdominal aortic aneurysm inception and evolution - A computational model

    Författare :Andrii Grytsan; T. Christian Gasser; Martin Kroon; Frans N. van de Vosse; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Aorta; Aneurysm; AAA; Blood Flow; Wall Shear Stress; Growth and Remodeling; Mixture Model; Growth Kinematics; Fluid-Solid-Growth; Aorta; Aneurysm; AAA; Blodflöde; Vägg Skjuvspänning; Tillväxt och Strukturförändring; Blandning Modell; Tillväxt Kinematik; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is characterized by a bulge in the abdominal aorta. AAA development is mostly asymptomatic, but such a bulge may suddenly rupture, which is associated with a high mortality rate. Unfortunately, there is no medication that can prevent AAA from expanding or rupturing. LÄS MER
