  1. 11. Application of Mixed-Effect Modeling to Improve Mechanistic Understanding and Predictability of Oral Absorption

    Författare :Martin Bergstrand; Mats O Karlsson; Hans Ericsson; Bart Ploeger; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Absorption; magnetic marker monitoring; drug release; IVIVC; pharmacometrics; NONMEM; model diagnostics; pcVPC; pvcVPC; visual predictive check; VPC; BQL; paracetamol; sulfapyridine.; Other pharmacy; Övrig farmaci; Pharmacokinetics and Drug Therapy; Farmakokinetik och läkemedelsterapi;

    Sammanfattning : Several sophisticated techniques to study in vivo GI transit and regional absorption of pharmaceuticals are available and increasingly used. Examples of such methods are Magnetic Marker Monitoring (MMM) and local drug administration with remotely operated capsules. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Physicochemical and Biopharmaceutical Characterisation of Small Drug Molecules by Capillary Electrophoresis

    Författare :Eivor Örnskov; Staffan Folestad; Karin E. Markides; Morteza Khaledi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytical chemistry; capillary electrophoresis CE ; micellar electrokinetic chromatography MEKC ; drug; liposome; microemulsion; coating; pKa; lipophilicity; multivariate analysis; molecular descriptor; hierarchical analysis; passiv absorption; Analytisk kemi; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Capillary Electrophoresis (CE) was explored as a means for physicochemical and biopharmaceutical characterisation of small drug molecules. Special attention was paid to the characterisation of acid-base and lipophilic properties of drug compounds by analysing their migration behaviour in different CE systems. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Drug Dissolution under Physiologically Relevant Conditions In Vitro and In Vivo

    Författare :Eva Persson; Hans Lennernäs; Bertil Abrahamsson; Peter Langguth; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Biopharmacy; solubility; drug dissolution; food effects; poorly soluble drugs; P-gp inhibition; drug absorption; pemeability; bile acids; phospholipids; human intestinal fluid; simulated intestinal fluid; neutral lipids; solid phase extraction; HPLC; Efflux; Biofarmaci;

    Sammanfattning : The general aim of the present project was to increase the understanding of the in vivo dissolution of poorly soluble drugs and thereby improve possibility to predict in vivo solubility from substance properties. Increased understanding of the in vivo limitations of drug solubility could potentially also generate ideas for improved formulation principles for poorly soluble compounds and more relevant in vitro dissolution test methods used in formulation development. 4. 14. Topical formulations, design and drug delivery : "A dive into water"

    Författare :Abdullah Ali; Marie Lodén; Anan Yagmur; Anders Hall; Malmö universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; water; topical formulations; Pickering emulsion; skin cream; drug delivery; tactile friction; sensory panel; nasal; buccal; mucosa; skin; triglycerides; ethanol; drug transport; cosmetic appeal;

    Sammanfattning : Water is a vital component regulating the properties of topical formulations and their interaction with biological barriers, such as skin and mucosa. Changing the watercontent within the frame of the pharmaceutical triangle will have a huge impact on which type of formulation, such as a cream, ointment, gel, or lotion, is formed, as well as the physical properties of the formulation. 5. 15. Understanding the gastrointestinal mucus and its impact on drug absorption

    Författare :Vicky Barmpatsalou; Christel Bergström; Eva Karlsson; Betty Lomstein Pedersen; Hanne Mørck Nielsen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; mucus; gastrointestinal; pigs; dogs; physiology; colonic; in vitro assay; drug diffusion; macromolecules;

    Sammanfattning : The gastrointestinal mucus is a hydrogel lining the luminal side of the gastrointestinal epithelium. Mucus is vital for gut homeostasis because it protects the epithelium from the noxious external environment. LÄS MER
