  1. 1. Electrifying the Molecules of Life : Peptide and Protein Analysis by Capillary Electrophoresis Coupled to Electrospray Ionization Mass Spectrometry

    Författare :Magnus Wetterhall; Jonas Bergquist; Karin E. Markides; Dominic M. Desiderio; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytical chemistry; Capillary electrophoresis CE ; Electrospray ionization ESI ; Mass spectrometry MS ; Peptides; Proteins; Cerebrospinal fluid CSF ; Graphite coating; Monomer coating; Polymer coating; Analytisk kemi; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the current status and novel aspects of the analysis of the molecules of life, i.e. peptides and proteins, using capillary electrophoresis (CE) coupled to mass spectrometry (MS) via (sheathless) electrospray ionization (ESI). Early reports of sheathless CE-ESI-MS were plagued by limited lifetimes of the electrospray emitter. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Physicochemical and Biopharmaceutical Characterisation of Small Drug Molecules by Capillary Electrophoresis

    Författare :Eivor Örnskov; Staffan Folestad; Karin E. Markides; Morteza Khaledi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytical chemistry; capillary electrophoresis CE ; micellar electrokinetic chromatography MEKC ; drug; liposome; microemulsion; coating; pKa; lipophilicity; multivariate analysis; molecular descriptor; hierarchical analysis; passiv absorption; Analytisk kemi; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Capillary Electrophoresis (CE) was explored as a means for physicochemical and biopharmaceutical characterisation of small drug molecules. Special attention was paid to the characterisation of acid-base and lipophilic properties of drug compounds by analysing their migration behaviour in different CE systems. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Development of Techniques and Methods for the Quantitative Analysis of Endogenous Substances by Microcolumn Liquid Chromatography Coupled to Mass Spectrometry

    Författare :Ardeshir Amirkhani; Jonas Bergquist; Karin E. Markides; Fritz Erni; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) is a powerful technique for the analysis of endogenous compounds. The introduction of electrospray ionization (ESI) as an interface between LC and MS has contributed strongly to a trend towards miniaturization of LC, due to the possibility to perform ESI at low flow rates. 4. 4. Microscale Tools for Sample Preparation, Separation and Detection of Neuropeptides

    Författare :Andreas Dahlin; Jonas Bergquist; Karin E. Markides; Robert T. Kennedy; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytical chemistry; Neuropeptides; Microchip; Enhanced microdialysis; Poly dimethylsiloxane PDMS ; Electrospray ionization ESI ; Multidimensional separation; Electrochemical manipulation; Mass spectrometry MS ; Capillary electrophoresis CE ; Microdevice; Microfabrication; Micro total analysis system μ-TAS ; Analytisk kemi; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The analysis of low abundant biological molecules is often challenging due to their chemical properties, low concentration and limited sample volumes. Neuropeptides are one group of molecules that fits these criteria. Neuropeptides also play an important role in biological functions, which makes them extra interesting to analyze. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Liquid Chromatography Coupled to Mass Spectrometry : Implementation of Chemometric Optimization and Selected Applications

    Författare :My Moberg; Jonas Bergquist; Karin E. Markides; Dan Bylund; Douglas B. Kell; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Analytical chemistry; liquid chromatography; mass spectrometry; tandem mass spectrometry; electrospray ionization; inductively coupled plasma; chemometrics; optimization; multivariate data analysis; design of experiments; response surface model; siderophore; azathioprine; peptide; Analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Liquid chromatography (LC) coupled to mass spectrometry (MS) offers highly selective and sensitive analysis of a wide variety of compounds. However, the use of hyphenated experimental set-ups implies that many parameters may have an effect on the studied response. LÄS MER
