  1. 1. Physicochemical and Biopharmaceutical Characterisation of Small Drug Molecules by Capillary Electrophoresis

    Författare :Eivor Örnskov; Staffan Folestad; Karin E. Markides; Morteza Khaledi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytical chemistry; capillary electrophoresis CE ; micellar electrokinetic chromatography MEKC ; drug; liposome; microemulsion; coating; pKa; lipophilicity; multivariate analysis; molecular descriptor; hierarchical analysis; passiv absorption; Analytisk kemi; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Capillary Electrophoresis (CE) was explored as a means for physicochemical and biopharmaceutical characterisation of small drug molecules. Special attention was paid to the characterisation of acid-base and lipophilic properties of drug compounds by analysing their migration behaviour in different CE systems. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Pulmonary Drug Absorption : In vitro and in vivo investigations of drug absorption across the lung barrier and its relation to drug physicochemical properties

    Författare :Ann Tronde; Gerrit Borchard; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmacy; lung; pulmonary; drug delivery; inhalation; drug transport; pharmacokinetics; absorption; bioavailability; drug metabolism; preclinical; rat; in vivo; isolated and perfused lung; Caco-2; nebulization catheter; aerosol; physicochemical; peptide; efflux; FARMACI; PHARMACY; FARMACI; Biopharmaceutics; biofarmaci;

    Sammanfattning : Although, pulmonary drug delivery is a well established means for targeting of drugs to the lungs for the treatment of respiratory diseases as well as for the systemic delivery of volatile anesthetic agents, drug absorption kinetics in the lung have not been subjected to extensive research. The main objective of this thesis was to investigate drug absorption characteristics of the lung barrier, using the isolated and perfused rat lung model and in vivo pharmacokinetic studies in rats. 3. 3. Optical Dyes for Visualization of Structure and Function of Biomolecules and Biological Membranes

    Författare :Maria Matson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Orientation; RNA; Lipid Membranes; Voltage-Sensitive Dyes; Binding Preferences; Cellular Localization; DNA; Spectroscopy; Spectral Properties; Lipophilic Ruthenium Complex;

    Sammanfattning : To visualize the structure and function of biomolecules and biological membranes in the cell, optical dyes are important tools where in particular fluorescent probes provide a sensitive and selective detection. When cellular compartments are investigated it is crucial that the probe selectively binds to the area of interest and not exhibits unspecific binding affinity. LÄS MER

  4. 4. New vanadium oxido complexes with potential biological activity

    Författare :Jessica Nilsson; Kemisk fysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Several biological aspects of vanadium are known and even though it has not been proven to be an essential metal for humans, it might have implication as a drug against the disease diabetes mellitus. However, undesired side effect as a result of the toxicity of vanadium must be reduced. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Intestinal permeability : a parameter of mucosal dysfunction

    Författare :Pål Lundin; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Peptide; N-acetylcysteine; Medium-chain glyceride; Mannitol; Macromolecules; Lipid; Kinetics; In vivo; In vitro; In situ; Intestine; Injury; Inflammation; HLA-B27; HCl; Epithelium; Enhancer; dDAVP; 51Cr-EDTA; BSA; Absorption; Albumin; Permeability; Animal physiology; Djurfysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The gastrointestinal tract has two opposing functions; to absorb nutrients and electrolytes, and to act as a barrier towards hazardous and non-nutritional substances. In the present thesis the barrier function of the gastrointestinal tract was studied in animal models in vivo, in situ and in vitro. LÄS MER
