    Författare :Einar B. Ólafsson; Antonio Barragan; Eva Frickel; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Apicomplexa; leukocyte motility; dendritic cell; amoeboid migration; host-parasite interactions; podosome; integrin; ITGB1; ECM; MAT; TIMP; MMP; MAPK; Erk; RTK; HGFR; Ras; calcium; VDCC; VGCC; calmodulin; CaMkII; CD63; FAK; SRC; Pi3k; hypermigration; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Sammanfattning : Toxoplasma gondii is an obligate intracellular parasite that infects all warm-blooded vertebrates including one third of the global human population. While infection is typically asymptomatic in healthy human hosts, reactivated and acute infection in immunosuppressed or immunecompromised individuals can lead to lethal toxoplasmic encephalitis After ingestion, the parasite crosses the intestinal epithelium and rapidly achieves systemic dissemination, ultimately establishing chronic infection in the brain. Sammanfattning : Toxoplasma gondii is an obligate intracellular Apicomplexan parasite that could possibly infect all warm-blooded animals. Acute infections with T. LÄS MER

  3. 28. Cell adhesion proteins in different invasive patterns of colon carcinomas : a morphometric and molecular genetic study

    Författare :Victoria Hahn-Strömberg; Lennart Franzén; Richard Palmqvist; Örebro universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Colorectal carcinoma is the second most common type of cancer in both men and women in Sweden. Cancer of the colon and rectum are often considered together and their ten year survival rate is approximately 50 – 60 % depending on sex and location. LÄS MER

  4. 29. Adhesion-dependent mechanisms regulating mitosis

    Författare :Deepesh Kumar Gupta; Staffan Johansson; Kaisa Haglund; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cytokinesis; Centrosome; Septin; Abscission; Mitosis; Integrin; Adhesion; Binucleation; Biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Integrin-mediated cell adhesion is required for normal cell cycle progression during G1-S transition and for the completion of cytokinesis. Cancer cells have ability to grow anchorage-independently, but the underlying mechanisms and the functional significance for cancer development are unclear. LÄS MER

  5. 30. Colorectal cancer and radiation response : The role of EGFR, AKT and cancer stem cell markers

    Författare :Sara Häggblad Sahlberg; Bo Stenerlöw; Bengt Glimelius; Marika Nestor; Torgny Stigbrand; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; colorectal cancer; radiation; AKT; EGFR; cancer stem cells; CD133; CD44; Biomedical Radiation Science; Biomedicinsk strålningsvetenskap; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylär cellbiologi; Biology with specialization in Molecular Cell Biology;

    Sammanfattning : The primary treatment for colorectal cancer is surgery. Radiotherapy and chemotherapy, sometimes combined, are also frequently used to diminish recurrence risk. In response to radiation exposure, several cellular signaling cascades are activated to repair DNA breaks, prevent apoptosis and to keep the cells proliferating. LÄS MER
