26. Chemical induction of spindle disturbances and abnormal chromosome numbers in cultured mammalian cells
Sammanfattning : Early investigations have shown that many chemically different compounds can cause spindle disturbances in eukaryotic cells and that there is an unspecific (physical) mechanism based on the partitioning of the compound into cellular hydrophobic compartments. This suggests that the approach should be quantitative when testing compounds for spindle disturbing activity in vitro; effect/no effect is not the most pertinent question. LÄS MER
27. Exploring the fate of emerging contaminants during hydrothermal regeneration of carbonaceous adsorbents
Sammanfattning : Wastewater from households and industries commonly contain emerging contaminants that are not easily removed by most wastewater treatment plants. These contaminants can be removed through adsorption onto adsorbents, such as activated carbon or biochars. LÄS MER
28. Source, occurrence, and fate of pharmaceuticals in natural waters
Sammanfattning : The consumption of pharmaceuticals has increased in the last few decades. After usage, pharmaceuticals are excreted via urine and feces and transported to wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) where they are subjected to treatment processes, and finally discharged into rivers. 29. Respiratory activity in medulla oblongata and its modulation by adenosine and opioids
Sammanfattning : From the moment of birth the complex neuronal networks generating breathing has to function continuously and adapt to the new postnatal environmental demands. This thesis aims at studying the perinatal development of respiratory control and its modulation by adenosine and opioids. LÄS MER
30. Cerebellar development and very preterm birth interactions with neonatal events
Sammanfattning : AbstractThe cerebellum is an important part of the brain and in very preterm infants the cerebellum is smaller at term equivalent age compared to that of infants born at term.Hypothesis and aims: The general hypothesis is that preterm birth per se causes cerebellar underdevelopment and that certain events following preterm birth, either complications or treatments, can aggravate the underdevelopment.
