  1. 11. Transmigration of Toxoplasma gondii across biological barriers

    Författare :Emily C. Ross; Antonio Barragan; Ildiko Rita Dunay; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Apicomplexa; blood-brain barrier; leukocyte; immune cell; transendothelial migration; cell adhesion molecule; host-pathogen; FAK; integrin; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Sammanfattning : Toxoplasma gondii is an obligate intracellular parasite that can likely infect all warm-blooded vertebrates, with estimates of up to 30% of the global human population being infected. Although infection with T. gondii is usually asymptomatic or mild, in immunocompromised individuals infection can lead to lethal toxoplasmic encephalitis. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Health assessments of asylum seekers within the Swedish healthcare system : a study of the interface between control and care, and how structure and procedures may influence access and coverage

    Författare :Robert Jonzon; Anna-Karin Hurtig; Eva Johansson; Pille Lindkvist; Michael Knipper; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Public health; migration; asylum seekers; health system; health assessment; control and care; Sweden; Folkhälsa; migration; asylsökande; hälsosystem; hälsoundersökning; kontroll och vård; Sverige; Public health; folkhälsa;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Despite lack of evidence, there is a common notion that diseases are brought along with migrants, and thus a threat to people in the host country. In Sweden asylum seekers are to be offered a health assessment (HA), but national statistics show that the coverage is less than 50%. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Genetic variation in structured populations

    Författare :Marina Rafajlovic; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; genetic variation; varying population size; effective population size; mutation; recombination; migration; multiple paternity; geographic structure; tests of neutrality; gene tree; species tree;

    Sammanfattning : It is widely acknowledged that the process of speciation in the presence of gene flow between different ecotypes is common in nature. However, the mechanisms underlying speciation are not understood. LÄS MER

    Författare :Eva Månsby; Biologiska institutionen; []

Växters fysiologi inte kärlväxter .;

    Sammanfattning : In the present thesis, I investigated the inter- and intraspecific variation in the Silene vulgaris/uniflora species-complex (the bladder campions). I have focused on the effects of past and present hybridization both on a large scale ? over the whole of Europe ? and on a local scale. Silene vulgaris and S. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Health of refugee migrants in the early post-migration phase in Sweden : The role of health resources and health promotion

    Författare :Maissa Al-Adhami; Raziye Salari; Mats Målqvist; C Elin Larsson; Bernadette Nirmal Kumar; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; refugee migrants; early post-migration; health and well-being; health communication; health promotion; health resources; health literacy; social capital; Sweden; Social Medicine; Socialmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : In the early post-migration phase, the health and well-being of newly settled refugee migrants is negatively affected by structural factors such as restrictive immigration policies, hostile political discourse and limited housing and work opportunities. There is a need for a better understanding of how individual health resources and health promotion can mitigate the impact of these ongoing stressors. LÄS MER
