  1. 11. Neuroinflammation and amyloid-β in early Alzheimer’s disease. Insight into the earliest events using mouse models

    Författare :Megg Gonzales Garcia; Neuroinflammation; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Alzheimer s disease; amyloid-beta; neuroinflammation; microglia; synapses; prion-like;

    Sammanfattning : Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the leading cause of dementia and most common neurodegenerative disease worldwide, but there currently exists no effective treatment that can stop nor slow the progression of the disease. The current dogma in the field postulates that the appearance of extracellular amyloid-beta (Aβ) plaques, a histopathological hallmark of the disease, is the trigger for downstream, detrimental events, including neuronal loss, extensive neuroinflammation and cognitive decline. 2. 12. Developing a Porcine Model to Study the Glymphatic System

    Författare :Nicholas Bechet; Glia-Immune Interactions; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Glymphatic system; cerebrospinal fluid; Porcine; in vivo imaging; amyloid beta; Alzheimer disease;

    Sammanfattning : The glymphatic system is a brain-wide solute clearance system that has developed in the brain to clear metabolic waste during sleep. This clearance is mediated by advective fluxes of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) along perivascular spaces (PVS) and through the brain. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Computational Modeling of the Structure, Function and Dynamics of Biomolecular Systems

    Författare :Yashraj Kulkarni; Shina Kamerlin; Markus Meuwly; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Proteins are a structurally diverse and functionally versatile class of biomolecules. They perform a variety of life-sustaining biological processes with utmost efficiency. A profound understanding of protein function requires knowledge of its structure. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Factors influencing transferrin receptor-mediated brain delivery : Evaluating preclinical antibody-based proteins for PET imaging in Alzheimer’s disease

    Författare :Rebecca Faresjö Melander; Stina Syvänen; Dag Sehlin; Robert Thorne; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; brain delivery; bispecific antibody; transferrin receptor; Alzheimer s Disease; amyloid-beta; aging; single domain antibody; PET; Biofarmaci; Biopharmaceutics; Neurology; Neurologi; Molekylär medicin; Molecular Medicine; Biofarmaci; Biopharmaceutics;

    Sammanfattning : Antibody-based proteins targeting amyloid-beta (Aβ) could be used as radioligands in positron emission tomography (PET) to study Alzheimer’s disease (AD) pathology in the living brain. The prospective advantages of antibody-based PET are to detect pathology earlier, with higher sensitivity, and to evaluate treatment effects of emerging immunotherapies against Aβ. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Proximity Ligation and Barcoding Assays : Tools for analysis of proteins and protein complexes

    Författare :Di Wu; Masood Kamali-Moghaddam; Ulf Landegren; Ola Söderberg; Jörg Hoheisel; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; proximity ligation assay; proximity barcoding assay; sensitive; in situ; multiplex; profiling; amyloid-beta; MARK; tau; CSF; biomarker; protein complexes; Alzheimer’s disease; amyotrophic lateral sclerosis; Molekylär medicin; Molecular Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Proteins are fundamental structural, enzymatic and regulatory components of cells. Analysis of proteins, such as by measuring their concentrations, characterizing their modifications, and detecting their interactions, provides insights in how biological systems work physiologically or pathologically at the molecular level.
