  1. 1. Factors influencing transferrin receptor-mediated brain delivery : Evaluating preclinical antibody-based proteins for PET imaging in Alzheimer’s disease

    Författare :Rebecca Faresjö Melander; Stina Syvänen; Dag Sehlin; Robert Thorne; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; brain delivery; bispecific antibody; transferrin receptor; Alzheimer s Disease; amyloid-beta; aging; single domain antibody; PET; Biofarmaci; Biopharmaceutics; Neurology; Neurologi; Molekylär medicin; Molecular Medicine; Biofarmaci; Biopharmaceutics;

    Sammanfattning : Antibody-based proteins targeting amyloid-beta (Aβ) could be used as radioligands in positron emission tomography (PET) to study Alzheimer’s disease (AD) pathology in the living brain. The prospective advantages of antibody-based PET are to detect pathology earlier, with higher sensitivity, and to evaluate treatment effects of emerging immunotherapies against Aβ. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Erythropoiesis in anemia of rencl failure and malignancy : Studies on erythropoietin, iron, and transferrin receptor : by Soheir Beshara

    Författare :Soheir Beshara; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; erythropoiesis; anemia; renal transplantation; prostatic adenocarcinoma; erythropoietin; transferrin receptor; hemorheology positron emission tomography; iron hydroxide sucrose; pharmacokinetics; iron deficiency; 52Fe; 59Fe; red cell utilization; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Internal Medicine; invärtesmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Erythropoietin (Epo) and iron are essential requirements for erythropoiesis. Serum transferrin receptor (S-TfR) is a marker of total erythropoiesis and tissue iron availability. In patients with renal insufficiency, successful renal transplantation leads to correction of anemia and improvement in erythropoiesis. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Design and engineering of human transferrin receptor 1 and its binding proteins

    Författare :Dick J. Sjöström; Sinisa Bjelic; John Löfblom; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Transferrin receptor; Machupo virus; protein engineering; Rosetta; flow cytometry; directed evolution; Biomedical Sciences; Biomedicinsk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The human transferrin receptor 1 (TfR) is central in maintaining adequate cellular iron levels with the iron carrier proteins transferrin (Tf) and ferritin (Ft). Known to bind TfR is also HFE, another iron regulatory protein, competing with Tf for receptor binding. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Affibody molecules for proteomic and therapeutic applications

    Författare :Caroline Grönwall; Stefan Ståhl; Lena Jendeberg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Affibody; protein engineering; phage display; amyloid beta peptide; transferrin; CD25; IL-2 receptor; proteomics; Bioengineering; Bioteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes generation and characterization of Affibody molecules with future applications in proteomics research, protein structure determinations, therapeutic treatment of disease and medical imaging for in vivo diagnostics. Affibody molecules are engineered affinity proteins developed by combinatorial protein engineering from the 58-residue protein A-derived Z domain scaffold. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Development of new affinity proteins for neurodegenerative disorders

    Författare :Linnea C. Hjelm; John Löfblom; Stefan Ståhl; Hanna Lindberg; Ylva Ivarsson; KTH; []

    Sammanfattning : Neurodegenerative disorders include a full spectrum of diagnoses, including dementias and other neuronal diseases, characterised by degradation of neurons in the brain occurring along with disease progression. Amongst the dementias, the most prevalent are Alzheimer’s (AD) and Parkinson’s disease (PD) that affect millions of people worldwide. LÄS MER
