  1. 16. Towards more sustainable approaches for protecting surfaces against wear

    Författare :Kaveh Torkashvand; Mohit Kumar Gupta; Nuria Espallargas; Högskolan Väst; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Wear; HVAF spraying; WC-Based Coatings; Sustainability; Binder Chemistry; Slitage; HVAF; WC-baserade beläggningar; Hållbar produktion; Bindemedelskemi; Production Technology; Produktionsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : WC-Co coatings, with and without chromium additives, are widely used in the industry for severe tribological applications. However, concerns about cobalt supply and its environmental and health impacts have led industries to explore sustainable binder alternatives. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Life Cycle Assessment of Asphalt Pavements including the Feedstock Energy and Asphalt Additives

    Författare :Ali Azhar Butt; Björn Birgisson; John Harvey; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Life Cycle Assessment; feedstock energy; asphalt binder additives; mass-energy flows; bitumen healing; wax; polymer;

    Sammanfattning : Roads are assets to the society and an integral component in the development of a nation’s infrastructure. To build and maintain roads; considerable amounts of materials are required which consume quite an amount of electrical and thermal energy for production, processing and laying. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Mechanisms of phagocytosis resistance in Streptococcus pyogenes

    Författare :Heike Kotarsky; Lund Pediatrik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Microbiology; bacteriology; virology; mycology; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi; fibrinogen; FHL-1; Factor H; M protein; Streptococcus pyogenes; phagocytosis;

    Sammanfattning : A distinguishing feature of Streptococcus pyogenes (GAS) is their ability to resist phagocytosis in whole human blood in the absence of type-specific antibodies, a property that is dependent on the expression of the surface associated M proteins. A common characteristic of M proteins is their interaction with a variety of host proteins including the complement regulatory protein factor H (FH) and fibrinogen that plays a key role in coagulation. 4. 19. Development of Flourescence-based Immunosensors for Continous Carbohydrate Monotoring : Applications for Maltose and Glucose

    Författare :Henrik Engström; Sten Ohlson; Per Ola Andersson; Christopher Lowe; Högskolan i Kalmar; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Carbohydrate; Diabetes; Immunosensor; ; Glucose; Maltose; Weak affinity chromatograhpy; Kolhydrater; Glukos; Maltose; Affinitetskromatografi; Diabetes; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Bioteknik; Biotechnology;

    Sammanfattning : Weak affinity interaction of monoclonal antibodies and carbohydrate antigens can be detected and quantified by alterations in the antibodies' intrinsic tryptophan fluorescence. These weak/transient binding events have been monitored by total internal reflection fluorescence (TlRF) by facilitating the change in intrinsic tryptophan fluorescence. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Mechanical properties of excavated sulfur rich soil stabilized with cement - A laboratory and field experiment

    Författare :Alaleh Ziagharib; Christian Maurice; Josef Macsik; Qi Jia; Jan Laue; Bo Vesterberg; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Sulfur-rich soil; Mixing; Sampling; Unconfined compressive strength; stabilization; Porosity; Water content; Consistency limits; Geoteknik; Soil Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : Sulfide soils are silty soils, often found in saturated conditions, under the groundwater level. Characteristics of these soils, including particle size distribution and consistency limits along with chemical composition and environmental properties, cause excavation to be necessary for construction purposes.
