1. Functional Binders at the Interface of Negative and Positive Electrodes in Lithium Batteries
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, electrode binders as vital components in the fabrication of composite electrodes for lithium-ion (LIB) and lithium-sulfur batteries (LiSB) have been investigated.Poly(vinylidene difluoride) (PVdF) was studied as binder for sulfur-carbon positive electrodes by a combination of galvanostatic cycling and nitrogen absorption. 2. Green Propellants
Sammanfattning : To enable future environmentally friendly access to space by means of solid rocket propulsion a viable replacement to the hazardous ammonium perchlorate oxidizer is needed. Ammonium dinitramide (ADN) is one of few such compounds currently known. LÄS MER
3. Carbothermal synthesis of nano-structured metal, carbides and nitrides, using solution processed precursors; from precursor to product
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes how solution chemical based carbothermal syntheses can be used for the synthesis of nanostructured zirconium carbide and nitride nanophase powders as well as a nickel-metal coating on NbC for use as a sintering agent. The focus is on the development of novel synthesis routes using atomic or small nanoscale level mixing of the metal oxide and carbon source in the starting precursors, enabling the use of lower synthesis temperatures and non-agglomerated nanosized powders. 4. Characterization of Reaction Products in the Li-O2 Battery Using Photoelectron Spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : The rechargeable Li-O2 battery has attracted interest due to its high theoretical energy density (about 10 times better than today’s Li-ion batteries). In this PhD thesis the cycling instability of the Li-O2 battery has been studied. LÄS MER
5. Peptide Conjugates as Useful Molecular Tools
Sammanfattning : The conjugation of a small organic molecule to synthetic polypeptides from a designed set has been shown to give rise to binders with high affinity and selectivity for the phosphorylated model proteins α-casein and β-casein but not for ovoalbumin. The small organic molecule that was used for this purpose is comprised of two di-(2-picolyl)amine groups assembled on a dimethylphenyl scaffold, and is capable of complexing two Zn2+ ions to form chelates that bind the phosphate ion.
