  1. 1. Superhydrophobic coatings of wax and polymers sprayed from supercritical solutions

    Författare :Louise Ovaskainen; Lars Wågberg; Charlotta Turner; Eric Beckman; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; superhydrophobic coatings; polymer; wax; supercritical carbon dioxde; RESS; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The possibility of using supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) as the primary solvent in a spray process for producing superhydrophobic surfaces have been examined in this work. Using scCO2 as solvent will have considerably lower environmental impact compared to an organic solvent since scCO2 is considered a green solvent as it is non-toxic, non-flammable and recyclable. 2. 2. Thermally Induced Fracture Performance of Asphalt Mixtures

    Författare :Prabir Kumar Das; Björn Birgisson; Dallas Little; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Low temperature cracking; asphalt concrete fracture mechanics; viscoelasticity; non-linear thermal contraction coefficient; atomic force microscopy; wax; wax crystallization; SRA - Transport; SRA - Transport;

    Sammanfattning : A major distress mode in asphalt pavements is low temperature cracking, which results from the contraction and expansion of the asphalt pavement under extreme temperature changes. The potential for low temperature cracking is an interplay between the environment, the road structure and importantly the properties of the asphalt mixture. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Occupational exposure to fluorinated ski wax

    Författare :Helena Nilsson; Jonathan W. Martin; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Perfluorinated; polyfluorinated; FIS; occupational exposure; ski wax; biotransformation; metabolism; fluorotelomer alcohol; fluorotelomer acid; aerosol; dust; UPLC MS-MS; GC MS-MS; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Per- and polyfluorinated substances (PFAS) are used in the production of ski wax to reduce the friction between the snow and the ski. In this occupational study of ski wax technicians’ exposure to PFAS and particulate aerosol we have collected whole blood (wb) (n =94), air (n =84) and aerosol (n =159) samples at World Cup events from 2007-2011. 4. 4. Effects of surfactant adjuvants on plant leaf cuticle barrier properties

    Författare :Anton Fagerström; Malmö högskola; []
    Nyckelord :Adjuvant; Surfacant; Cuticle; Tebuconazole; Diffusion; Clivia miniata Regel leaf; Model wax; Phase diagram; Hydration; Eutectic melting; Crystalline domains; Softening; Wax film; Quartz Crystal Microbalance with dissipation QCM-D ; Differential Scanning Calorimetry DSC ; Small- and Wide-angle X-ray Diffraction SWAXD ;

    Sammanfattning : I avhandlingen undersöks växelverkan mellan det yttersta lagret på växters blad (cutikeln), aktiva substanser, och ämnen som tillsätts för att öka bekämpningsmedlens effekt, i detta fall vissa former av tensider. Barriären som hindrar upptag av främmande ämnen i växten sitter i cutikeln. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Investigation of the most essential factors influencing ski glide

    Författare :Leonid Kuzmin; Mikael Jonsson; Mats Tinnsten; Lars-Erik Persson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Computer Aided Design; Datorstödd maskinkonstruktion; wax;

    Sammanfattning : There are many different parameters of a ski running surface (material, roughness, hydrophobicity, etc.). All the parameters have an influence on ski glide, some more and some less. Furthermore, some parameters with only minor relevance are commonly declared as critical, while truly critical parameters, as far as we know, never been investigated. LÄS MER
