  1. 26. Hand-arm vibration syndrome; Consequences for hand function and quality of life

    Författare :Ragnhild Cederlund; Hållbar vardag och hälsa i ett livsperspektiv; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ortopedi; traumatologi; traumatology; Kirurgi; Surgery; orthopaedics; questionnaires; tests; assessments; outcomes; ill-health; well-being; activities of daily living ADL ; quality of life; hand function; hand symptoms; Vibration exposure; Hand-arm vibration syndrome HAVS ;

    Sammanfattning : Workers exposed to hand-held vibrating machines may risk developing a hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS), a condition which can cause chronic impairment and disability. The aims of this thesis were 1) to obtain deeper insight and further knowledge of HAVS and the consequences for hand function, and aspects of quality of life (QoL); 2) to investigate the usefulness of clinical assessments in diagnosing HAVS; 3) to evaluate a treatment method for patients with severe cold intolerance. Författare :Marta Vergara; Fredrik Nyström; Carl Johan Östgren; Anna Krook; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Resistance training; Protein; Fast-food; Blueberries; Exercise; Glucose; Running; Cholesterol; Troponin T; Insulin sensitivity; Brown adipose tissue; Basal methabolic rate; Cold exposure; Quality of life; Primary health care; Diabetes mellitus type 2; MACE; Prospective studies; Risk factors; Cardiovascular diseases;

    Sammanfattning : Obesity and related complications such as diabetes mellitus type 2 (T2DM) and cardiovascular events, are a growing major health problem worldwide. Achieving a negative energy balance by increasing physical activity in combination with reduced caloric intake, is the most common approach in weight reduction strategies, something that is difficult to maintain in the long term. 3. 28. Treatment Decision after Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury, and Evaluation of Measurement Properties of a Patient Reported Outcome Measure

    Författare :Hanna Tigerstrand Grevnerts; Joanna Kvist; Sofi Sonesson; Håkan Gauffin; Clare Ardern; Eva Ageberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; anterior cruciate ligament injury; ACL; ACL reconstruction; ACLR; choice of treatment; IKDC; measurement properties; evaluation;

    Sammanfattning : Background: After an ACL injury, treatment aims to restore knee function. Evaluation of treatment progress is important, and adequate measurement methods are necessary. The International Knee Documentation Committee- Subjective Knee Form (IKDC-SKF) is a common patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) used after ACL injury. LÄS MER

  4. 29. Thermodynamic Modelling of Electrolyte Solutions with Application to the Pulp and Paper Industry

    Författare :Anders Jaretun; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Potassium; Chloride; Chemical recovery; Leaching; Crystallization; Kraft pulping; Non-process elements; Solubility; Local composition; Excess properties; Osmotic coefficient; Electrolytes; Activity coefficient; Wood; pulp and paper technology; Pappers- och massateknik;

    Sammanfattning : A thermodynamic model for electrolyte solutions has been derived for binary and multicomponent solutions up to very high molalities. The model was extensively tested on 163 binary aqueous electrolyte systems up to very high molalities, and the results show that the model represents mean ionic activity coefficients and osmotic coefficients very accurately. 5. 30. Characterization of Impaired Glucose Tolerance - Insulin Sensitivity, Islet Function and Metabolic Risk Factors

    Författare :Hillevi Larsson; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Endocrinology; muscle fiber type; androgen activity; proinsulin; glucagon; insulin secretion; insulin sensitivity; Impaired glucose tolerance; type 2 diabetes; sekretion; diabetologi; Endokrinologi; diabetology; secreting systems;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a three-year prospective study on metabolic characteristics of impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) and the regulation of insulin sensitivity versus islet function in relation to changes in glucose tolerance. 108 non-diabetic women aged 57-58 years were randomly selected from a population of women born in 1935 with a high prevalence of IGT.
