    Sammanfattning : In March 1809, when Sweden was yet again at war, part of its Western Army staged a revolt against Gustav IV Adolf that spelled the end of royal absolutism. The thesis shows how, in a turbulent period in European history marked by revolution and the Napoleonic wars, an army of several thousand men could successfully revolt and march from their positions in the county of Värmland clean across their own country to Stockholm, where they instigated a change of regime.     Sammanfattning : This dissertation deals with the art of preaching of Haquin Spegel (1645-1714) from a political and rhetorical perspective. Spegel was one of the leading churchmen during the period of Carolingian autocratic rule. He was close to Karl XI and had good contacts with the Court and the political elite. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the language and image of late Swedish absolutism. The sources used are royal medals and royal speeches and ceremonies at the Diets.     Sammanfattning : This dissertation investigates the plausibility of metaethical relativism, or more specifically, what I call “moral truth-value relativism”: the idea that the truth of a moral statement or belief depends on who utters or has it, or who assesses it. According to the most prevalent variants of this view in philosophical literature – “standard relativism” – the truth-values are relative to people’s moralities, often understood as some subset of their affective or desire- like attitudes.     Sammanfattning : The subject of this study is the reactions of the peasantry to the demands of the Swedish absolute state in the 1710s. The loss of the army at Poltava in 1709 marked the beginning of the terminal phase of the Swedish imperial power. The defeat did not shake king Charles XII in his resolution to pursue the war. LÄS MER
