    Sammanfattning : The thesis portrays the role of Hedwig Eleonora (1636-1715) dowager queen of Sweden, born princess of Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorf, as a patron and collector. Her role is analysed as to have played a great part in the Swedish cultural political visual production before and during the age of absolutism in the late seventeenth and early eighteenth-century. Mainly, it focuses on portraits of the political élite, including the Royal family, and on the biographies of the artists that depicted those sitters.     Sammanfattning : The subject of this study is the reactions of the peasantry to the demands of the Swedish absolute state in the 1710s. The loss of the army at Poltava in 1709 marked the beginning of the terminal phase of the Swedish imperial power. The defeat did not shake king Charles XII in his resolution to pursue the war.     Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the language and image of late Swedish absolutism. The sources used are royal medals and royal speeches and ceremonies at the Diets. The images are analysed as linguistic constructions, made up by a framework of concepts articulated in words, symbols and ceremonies around the kings. LÄS MER
