  1. 1. Regulation of fibroblast activity by keratinocytes, TGF-β and IL-1α : studies in two- and three dimensional in vitro models

    Författare :Anita Koskela von Sydow; Mikael Ivarsson; Torbjörn Bengtsson; Hans Törmä; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Fibroblast; Keratinocyte; TGF-β; IL-1α; coculture; fibrosis CTGF CNN 2; dermal; organotypic culture;

    Sammanfattning : Dysregulated wound healing is commonly associated with excessive fibrosis. Connective tissue growth factor (CTGF/CCN2) is characteristically overexpressed in fibrotic diseases and stimulated by transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) in dermal fibroblasts. Reepithelialisation and epidermal wound coverage counteract excessive scar formation. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Endoglucanase and Mannanase from Blue Mussel, Mytilus edulis: Purification, Characterization, Gene and Three Dimensional Structure

    Författare :Bingze Xu; Folke Tjerneld; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biotechnology; Bioteknik; Bioengineering; Bioteknik; Surface Biotechnology; ytbioteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Two polysaccharide-degrading enzymes (endo-1,4-D-glucanase and β-mannanase) from blue mussel, Mytilus edulis, have been purified to homogeneity using a combination of several chromatographic steps. Each enzyme has been characterized with regard to its molecular weight, isoelectric point, pH and temperature stability, pH and temperature optimum and substrate specificity. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Structural and functional studies of a novel Botulinum neurotoxin and of MTH1

    Författare :Linda Henriksson; Pål Stenmark; Maria Selmer; Stockholms universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : X-ray crystallography visualizes the three dimensional molecular structures of proteins at atomic resolution. Seeing the molecular structure of a biomedically interesting protein enables a higher understanding of its function. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Heterologous expression and characterization of xyloglucan endotransglycosylases from Populus tremula x tremuloides

    Författare :Åsa Kallas; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :xyloglucan endotransglycosylase; transglycosylation; hybrid aspen; cell expansion; heterologous expression; Pichia pastoris; N-glycosylation; X-ray crystallography;

    Sammanfattning : Xyloglucan endotransglycosylases (XETs) are enzymes involvedin the reorganization of the primary cell wall. This thesisdescribes several aspects of XET16A from hybrid aspen (Populustremula x tremuloides). The gene was isolated from the hybridaspen cDNA library and the protein was expressed heterologouslyin the methylotrophic yeast Pichia pastoris. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : High-throughput drug screening (HTS) in live cells is often a vital part of the preclinical anticancer drug discovery process. So far, two-dimensional (2D) monolayer cell cultures have been the most prevalent model in HTS endeavors. However, 2D cell cultures often fail to recapitulate the complex microenvironments of in vivo tumors. LÄS MER
